    COLOR CORRECTOR NO SONY VEGAS

  • Nov 08, 2011 from crdesign8(Celio Monteiro) in Technology

    Beginner Likes It

This review is for brand new beginners like me. I've never used any of the many software programs for video capture or editing. A friend told me that Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum was the easiest and least buggy. BTW, I don't know what the word Platinum refers to or, for that matter, if there is a silver or gold version. Everyone but this one friend told me to shut up and buy a mac in order to use Imovie. I ended up going with Vegas rather than buying a new computer just to edit video. Here's what I've noticed in the first week of use: I was overwhelmed reading the instruction manual but then I stumbled onto the incredible sony training website. Sony provides a website dedicated to training for an earlier version of this program-- [...]This training website had a minor problem: I couldn't figure out the "plug in" update stuff, which I think does something to your browser to enable you to watch these training videos. However, it is easy to download each... 5/5 A. Rosenbach "A. Rosenbach" (California) - See all my reviews, November 14, 2011

The best of the pack so far!

I have tried out Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10 Production Suite and decided to purchase it. I compared it to Magix Movie Edit Pro Plus 16, Pinnacle 14, Corel Videostudio Pro X2/X3, and Cyberlink Power Director 8 and it comes down to one major factor. Vegas actually runs without crashing. I own Videostudio Pro X2, reformatted my PC to start fresh and tried to reinstall VS Pro X2, as I had done a couple times previously, and this time it would not install. I called tech support, which graciously tried to help without charging me - they even called me back to see if the their idea worked - which, unfortunately, it had not. I downloaded VS Pro X3 as I could upgrade for a lower price than buying new. It worked fine a for a day but then started crashing non-stop to the point where I couldn't use it without crashing.I tried Power Director 8 which in some respects has a really good interface (not in all respects though - there are too many tabbed options and the... 5/5 Ansel 4 - See all my reviews This review is from: Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10 Suite [OLD VERSION] (Software) I have tried out Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10 Production Suite and decided to purchase it. Software has a small learning curve but it's simpler to learn than Final Cut Express. I have used Acid 3.0 for years and some of the interface/tools & commands are pretty similar. Comes with DVD Architect & Sound Forge 10. Haven't fully dived into but so far I created a 2 minute video that looks pretty good. The best thing is so far it reads multiple files. A producer gave me files he transferred from his Sony HD Cam to my hard drive using Final Cut Pro. No other software would open these files; not even AVS4YOU. Kept saying I needed a APCN Codec, well SVP 10 must have it because it worked and audio/video is great. Definitely worth the $94!Kg 5/5 K. Garner (Nashville, TN) - See all my reviews, June 12, 2010

Beats Windows Movie Maker Live! More like WMM 2.6

I have a windows 7 machine with 10gb ddr3,120gb SSD, i7 processor and Nvidia gtx550ti gpu. Pretty much top of the line. This software would be expected to run well and it does. Uploading from a video device is easy. It detected my Canon HD camcorder first crack. It allows you to upload the entire video in whatever format you want and as much of it as you want. Features abound and it will take you some time to get used to using all of them. If your'e coming over from the latest Windows Movie Maker re-introduced on Windows 7 which is terrible and too simplified, It uses a timeline like WMM 2.6 on Vista and basic effects like crossfades are easily rendered. Some of the other improvements over WMM are the ability to crop, pan and zoom within the clip. Easily add video from other sources and create as many audio and video, still layers you desire. All special effects such as lens flare, light beams, swirling (hope you don't actually use that one) can be proportioned and positioned easily... 5/5 Hilow "Bill" (San Francisco, CA USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Sony Creative Software Vegas Movie Studio HD 11.0 (CD-ROM) I have a windows 7 machine with 10gb ddr3,120gb SSD, i7 processor and Nvidia gtx550ti gpu. Inexpensive alternative that still gets the job done.

I use an HD PVR to record gaming footage, and since I spent so much money on that, I didn't want to spend another $100 on editing software. This has been absolutely perfect. It doesn't come with all of the bells and whistles, but for what I want to do, it works amazingly. I know for a fact I'll get my money's worth out of this. The tutorials are easy to follow, so this product is very user friendly. If you don't need all of the fancy stuff, this should be just fine for you. 5/5 James - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) at last 3D! well, almost. halfway there......

this blurb comes directly from the help database on vegas 11"If you want to create a stereoscopic 3D project, you can burn a standard Blu-ray Disc or DVD in side-by-side format and play it on any Blu-ray Disc or DVD player. When the player is connected to a recent 3D TV, you can use the TV's menu to put it into side-by-side mode and enjoy 3D playback. If your goal is the higher-end Blu-ray 3D(tm) format, Vegas Movie Studio can prepare content in full HD per-eye format by rendering two separate files (using Left only and Right only modes), which can be read by an MVC encoder such as the Dualstream 3D encoder and authored using a tool such as Blu-print.For more information about working with stereoscopic 3D projects, please see Stereoscopic 3D Editing."unless you are a pro or are commited to the process, don't even think about dualstream. here's the statement from sonycreativesoftware.com"Please note that Dualstream 3D is a command... 4/5 R. Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD 11 Platinum not loading

I don't know what is wrong with this program but it is not loading. It stops at "Initializing Direct X plug-ins". I have used several different generations of Movie Studio in the past, and the programs have always been reliable until I changed my operating system to Windows 7 64 bit. My last version of Movie Studio 8 worked well in Vista 64 bit except for the problem of not being able to read music CDs. When I changed operating systems, it stopped working; it loaded in the same manner as Movie STudio 11 which means it hung up on a certain section of code. I did a Windows compatiblity test on Movie Studio HD 11, and the test said that the programs wasn't compatible! The program is supposed to be compatible with Windows 7! I am very angry; Sony Vegas Movie Studio has been so reliable in the past. 1/5 Macdonald Cory (South San Gabriel, California United States) - See all my reviews, July 14, 2011

I started with SV 9, then 10, and now 11. First, I am Sony's biggest fan. I own 3 sony video cameras, SV consumer and pro, and I promote Sony. But SVP 11 is the worst product I have ever used by sony. It is unstable, crashes whenever I use FXs and I can't even use the NEW Blue titler. If you don't save your work product every 3 seconds, you will lose your work. I am comitted to Sony, but I refuse to give them anymore money until they improve. I would not recommend this and I strongly encourage everyone to stay away from this. SVP 10 is Awesome! He's a Vegas Pro Fan

My husband has been using Vegas Pro for many many years. The 2006 computer he had it on finally went to Sony heaven and he needed a new program able to be used on Windows 7 OS so I bought the Vegas Pro 11.0. My husband writes a lot of music, plays all the instruments, and produces the finished product on CDs/DVDs. For him, this system is the bomb! He has not encountered any crash problems (knock on wood)as others have noted. But to be fair, he has not used all the features of this program yet. He looks forward to another six + years of using Vegas Pro 11.0. 4/5 Duchess - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Handles AVCHD like a Pro

I have recently moved from editing standard definition, to high definition home video (AVCHD file format). This editor was recommended as one that does a great job with AVCHD files, and I have to say that it DELIVERS. The hi-def home movies I have edited with Corel Video Studio Pro Ultimate X4 look sensational. I can not detect any loss in video quality. A particular advantage I have found in working with Corel is that there is no problem editing interlaced 1080i high definition video. Edges are smooth and downright beautiful in this editor---no interlacing artifact! Corel has a wide variety of effects, transitions, etc. However, this is no simple "trim-and-menu" editor (though you can easily use it that way, if you want to). Corel has a feature set that requires a learning curve if you want to get all the benefits of the program. I have beginner level experience with other video editing programs, and I am finding Corel to have many of the same features as my other programs... 5/5 R. As Fancy As You Wanna Get

Many reviewers have mentioned this software as being "intuitive" and that they didn't have to crack the manual. I can only assume that those reviewers weren't trying to do very complicated things with the software-- which is totally fine. There's a great market for people who want nothing more than to create little personal videos for family or online use. However, for those of us who want to "take it to the next level" without months or years of studying, you can definitely do that with this software.Until now, most of my home movies were made using One True Media-- a super online service for beginners that makes it very easy to make short videos combining photos and digital video clips with music and effects to share online or burn to DVD. However, I had pushed that service to its max-- it gets very, VERY slow and tedious when you try to make long videos (mine were mostly around 30-45-minutes). The download times were appalling and there were certainly limitations to how... 4/5 Jenna Glatzer (NY, United States) - See all my reviews, November 30, 2011

    VERY Pleasantly Surprised

Years ago, I used to edit video professionally using Avid MediaComposer and After Effects. I also had some experience with Final Cut Pro near the end of that work. I then moved on to other things professionally and have not had the need to do any serious editing since then. I recently decided to cut my own home videos and needed to buy an editing solution. I looked for an Avid solution since that is what I was experienced with, but the company was essentially gone (knocked off by Apple's Final Cut Pro, largely), and while the software is still available, it was very expensive and long in the tooth. Final Cut seemed the obvious solution, but it is going a new direction as well, and professional editors are vocally disappointed with it these days (late 2011, early 2012). So, I looked around at the "consumer" programs, not expecting to find anything worthwhile. I was surprised by the available feature in VideoStudio Pro Ultimate, and decided that for $60, I wouldn't lose too much... 5/5 Greg P (Salt Lake City, UT USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Final Cut seemed the obvious solution, but it is going a new direction as well, and professional editors are vocally disappointed with it these days (late 2011, early 2012). So, I looked around at the "consumer" programs, not expecting to find anything worthwhile. I was surprised by the available feature in VideoStudio Pro Ultimate, and decided that for $60, I wouldn't lose too much... I researched movie editors for months, before buying Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum Pro Pack. Did I make the right choice? Best Video Editing Software on Either Platform

I have played with them all, including doing a fair amount of work in iMovie.Forget Ulead, forget Pinnacle, or whatver junk you are trying. Sony Vegas is easier to use, more powerful, rock-solid stable, features a built in "Show Me" feature which walks you through anything you'd want to do.If you were locked in a room for one hour with a camera and software and had to make a basic movie, then walk over to the Mac and use iMovie. You'll be done with time to spare, and no headaches.Once you have made a couple of movies, the limitations of iMovie will drive you nuts. Then, you graduate to Sony, and you never have to learn another program. It does it all. Intuitively and simply. Not as easy as iMovie, but substantially more powerful and worth the effort.Pros: Very mature, stable, powerful and relatively easy to use, and cheap, considering all that comes in the bundle and how much you can do with the software.Cons: Not as... 5/5 Mr. Scott D. Great Amateur/Prosumer Editing Suite

The "Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum Pro Pack" is another fantastic entry into the outstanding Vegas family of editing software. We make instructional DVDs (Introduction to Candle Making DVD) and have used Sony Vegas since version 4. While most of our videos are made using the higher end version , I use the "Studio" version for home videos and quick edits. What's included (all on one disc):* Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum Edition (editing software)* DVD Architect Studio 4.5 (DVD authoring)* Sound Forge Audio Studio (audio editing)* Cinescore w/themes (sound track creation)* 1001 Sound Effects* NewBlue 3D Transitions & Effects ("Cartoonr" is an interesting effect)Here are my observations:* Very intuitive and easy to use interface* Huge selection of effects and... 5/5 C. Great for recording video game consoles

To start off, I'm writing this review solely from the perspective of someone using this to record footage from video game consoles (an Xbox 360, in my case), because that's why I bought it and that's all I've used it for so far.Upon opening the box, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that there was a component cable included, a nice bonus. The first thing you'll notice is how light the device itself is. The all-plastic body and the lack of weight contribute to give it a slight cheap feeling, but this is not reflective of the overall quality of the device, as I'm about to explain. The HD PVR has pass-through outputs, which means you can plug your console into the PVR and then the PVR into your TV (with the included component cable), eliminating the need to split the signal. I was a little bit worried about any input lag caused by the pass-through, but I was thankful to discover that there is absolutely none. The one downside of this, if any, is that the PVR... 4/5 Maureen Swan (Minnesota, USA) - See all my reviews, December 25, 2009

Not for the faint of heart

Here's the summary: - Not a DVR. This is a pass-thru from audio/video source to PC. - Generates H.264 at Baseline Profile 1.0 only -- not the High Profile 4.1 that x264.exe-based programs generate. The Baseline H.264 quality is not as good as the High Profile quality using the same bit rate. - Generates default .M2TS files which are difficult to edit -- use the .TS file output instead for easier editing. - Arcsoft software is good for capturing and that's it. The software for creating a disk always seems to re-encode -- a process that takes my PC days or makes my PC hang. - After capture, I have to use third-party software to finish production. The product is not an easy out-of-the box solution. Hookup is easy, and the Arcsoft software installation is easy, capturing is easy, but it gets tricky after that. When you capture, you can set bitrates. I set my 720x480i broadcast to 4.1 MB/s thinking it... 3/5 K. Martin (Kenosha, WI) - See all my reviews, May 22, 2009

Best Hi def recorder on the market currently

June postingok I would have given this 5 stars but this comes with current problem with it, this has optical in for 5.1DD recording at this time hauppuage can not get this to work so you are stuck with PCM 2.0 or audio from the analog imputs, now to the rest, it records video at 1920x1080 at same or near Blu ray discs, you have a choice of bitrate constant from 1 to 13.5 Kb or on variable all the way up to 20.2, this records in the same codeec (AVCHD) as blu ray and HD DVD discs, it will take any component imput, I have mine through my receiver where my Dishnet PVR HD, PS3, HD DVD and Oppo DVD player runs through, just for test purposes I tried all my devices and what I test recorded from dishnet, blu ray, DVD and HD DVD the test disc looked no different than the original source, once you capture your source you can then edit or add chapters then you get to add a real cheapo menu and then put in what disc you need to burn either a DVD-R or a dual layer DVD Disc, it takes... 4/5 Dan (aka THXkid) (Phoenix, Az United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Hauppauge 1212 HD-PVR High Definition Personal Video Recorder (Electronics) June postingok I would have given this 5 stars but this comes with current problem with it, this has optical in for 5.1DD recording at this time hauppuage can not get this to work so you are stuck with PCM 2.0 or audio from the analog imputs, now to the rest, it records video at 1920x1080 at same or near Blu ray discs, you have a choice of bitrate constant from 1 to 13.5 Kb or on variable all the way up to 20.2, this records in the same codeec (AVCHD) as blu ray and HD DVD discs, it will take any component imput, I have mine through my receiver where my Dishnet PVR HD, PS3, HD DVD and Oppo DVD player runs through, just for test purposes I tried all my devices and what I test recorded from dishnet, blu ray, DVD and HD DVD the test disc looked no different than the original source, once you capture your source you can then edit or add chapters then you get to add a real cheapo menu and then put in what disc you need to burn either a DVD-R or a dual layer DVD Disc, it takes... Buggy

Looked like just what I needed to edit and convert AVCHD movie from a Sony camera. The features are there but this product is pretty much unusable. It crashes A LOT, some of the codecs included don't work and others outup video files that are corrupted. Waist of money.Runing it on a Quad Core, 4 GB and SSD. Editing video from a Sony HDR-CX500V1 month update - After many forum discussions I found some tweaks one may be able to apply to make this product work. It gets a bit technical but apparently some of the files included in this product are not set to address memeory space over 2 GB. If you have more then 2 GB as soon as your memory ussage exceeds 2 GB, the encoder crashes. There is a 3'rd party freeware you have to download to change the settings of about 6 files in this software and after that the product works much much better. It's unacceptable that Sony can't put out a patch to fix this when others managed to find a solution. 1/5 Mr Sparky (TX, USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Sony Movie Studio HD [Old Version] (DVD-ROM) Looked like just what I needed to edit and convert AVCHD movie from a Sony camera. Buggy, but acceptable.

Customer Video Review Length:: 1:02 MinsUpdate 5/17/2011: Vegas movie studio hd platinum 10 is much better and I have had none of the issues as mentioned below. Check out which has Vegas hd 10, as well as full versions of sound forge, acid music, DVD architect, photo go, and royalty free music, all bundled together for only slightly more than this software. End of update.Considering the price tag, I can't complain too much. However, it's buggy, shuts down sometimes when trying to import files, and overall I found it user unfriendly (despite Sony's attempt to make it easier with the tutorials). The tutorials are a nice addition, though they were not complete on many occasions and I had to just learn by trial and error. My main complaint: Uploading Quicktime files was a nightmare until I found the... 3/5 Christina "sassynebrasky" (Norfolk, NE) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Most stable home video editor.

Tried various video editors, and by far Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD 9 is the stablest of all. For the home user, enough features to do what you want without too much complexity. Fairly quick rendering too, on my 1.7Ghz Pentium laptop running Windows XP SP2.Is the same product as Movie Studio Platinum but without the DVD Architect. I have another DVD authoring program so no problem there. Again, has never, ever crashed no matter what I put through it. 5/5 Retired Ron "RK" (MN USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
