Visioneer OneTouch 9420 USB
CE (Visioneer)
List Price: $179.99
you get what you pay for....
I had the 9020 version so I decided to get the upgrade. All the features are nice, but I'm getting lines whenever I set the scan at anything higher than 100 dpi. The scan bar stops and starts instead of having a continuous scan. I'm trying to find if it has patch or someway to repair it, as I think I've read it does. I'll give an update if I do.EDIT 12/17/07: I've since discovered that the main reasons I was having problems with this scanner is that the computer had trouble accessing the scanner information due to a slow processor speed. If you have a computer without adequate processing speed, the scanner bar will actually stop until this information has been sent. This actually takes only a split second, but it's long enough to form lines on your image. If you have the misfortune of using a computer that is inadequate, the scanner will refuse to work and give false error messgaes.CONCLUSION: This is a great scanner as long as you let it work on the level it... 3/5 Louie N. I bought the Visioneer OneTouch 9420 about a year ago. It ran beautifully for the two times that I used it over a period of 2 months, but then the scanner died. The first two technicians I was subjected to at Visioneer were extremely rude, sounding as if they coundn't be bothered. They insinuated that I must have loaded it improperly (even after it worked very well initially). After much hassle with the company, they agreed that the product was defective, and eventually replaced it.I've had the replacement for 8 months of occasional use, and again the results were very good, even with the OCR. But a couple of weeks ago the second scanner died on me. Now I'm going through the same runaround with the company. Both times I've consulted my local professional computer guru who agrees that there definitely is a problem with the product. After 21 years as a systems analyst and PC applications trainer, I resent being treated as a dummy, and can't deal with this company... 1/5 Dee - See all my reviews This review is from: Visioneer OneTouch 9420 USB (Office Product) I bought the Visioneer OneTouch 9420 about a year ago. Our government office has several Visoneer scanners, so I thought I'd get one for home, since I already understand how to use it. The 9420 I received would not unlock, no matter what I did. A call to tech support put me on hold for 9 minutes, then I got a recording telling me it would be another 15 minutes. This is not a toll free call, so I hung up. I then called Customer Service, and was told she could put me back in line for tech support -- in which I replied -- give me an RMA -- I'm sending it back. She emailed me a prepaid UPS label, and I sent it back. VIsoneer's tech support line really does suck. I just ordered a Canon. 1/5 Sanforb "sanforb" (New York State) - See all my reviews This review is from: Visioneer OneTouch 9420 USB (Office Product) Our government office has several Visoneer scanners, so I thought I'd get one for home, since I already understand how to use it.
