  Apple iPod touch 8 GB (2nd Generation--with iPhone OS 3.1 Software Installed) [OLD MODEL] ReviewToo start off this is a 2g model there is no 3G 8gig don't let anyone trick you into thinking other wise. Now the iPod is simply the most popular mp3 player on the market . But I am not here too boost apples already massive ego lol, but they did a dam good job on this machine. Actually I am typing this review on my touch right now, this thing is a masterpeice a word of advice tho do not update jailbreak it first, i made that mistake and I regreat it. But it is still an amazing device the one downside is the battary it's weak. But you can do things too extend it like turnin off the wifi and the screen brightness. Now back too the good stuff email, a quick web browser. And a ridiculous amout of apps make up for any short comings. And with a wife connection your set for life, now the storage might be a problem for some but I personally would relate what ever isn't in use, like the song you forgot you had, or the app you hated that you keep forgetting too delete. Now I'd you want too watch movies then I suggest a bigger storage space. All in all this is an amazing device and I recommend it 100%. Cheap Transcend 8 GB

  So far this card is working as advertised. At this point I would be happy to recommend this card to anyone in my family or any of my friends. If you choose to purchase this card, I hope you have as good of an experience as I have had. Do something nice for someone today and tell them to pay it forward.
  
  Before reading this article, please be aware that making hardware and software modifications can void the warranty on a unit, so be sure to check before proceeding if this is a concern for you.
  1) Replace the iPod firmware with Rockbox Rockbox is a free, open-source replacement for the iPod operating system, which is available for most of the incarnations of the device, as well as several other types of mp3 players such as the Archos Jukebox series. It doesnt delete the iPod firmware however it simply co-exists with it and takes priority when you boot, and you can switch between the two by flicking the Hold switch on when starting up the device. Rockbox adds a lot of much-wanted features to the iPod, like the ability to change different graphical themes (and download new ones), a clock display on the main menu, the ability to read and write small text files, the ability to install and change fonts, the ability to play back many new file types and install different codecs, a JPEG viewer and an MPEG player for the video models, and improved album art display during playback of songs. Rockbox also comes with a built-in Gameboy and Gameboy Color video game emulator, and a version of the classic PC game DOOM can be added to it as well, along with a number of other homebrew games.
  Rockbox can be found at www.rockbox.org/>>2) Replace the iPod firmware with iPodLinux Another option for replacing the stock iPod operating system is iPodLinux, also freely available and an open-source project. Like Rockbox, it exists side-by-side with the original iPod OS, and you can switch between the two.
  iPodLinux does much of what Rockbox does, and more. It can run quite a bit of Linux software, games and emulators for various consoles and computers. However, it is not quite as user-friendly or easy to set up as Rockbox is.
  Generally you will want to have either Rockbox or iPodLinux as a replacement OS. However, if you are interested in having both, as well as the easy option to return to the original Apple OS, you can try installing Zeroslackr. This bootstrap program lets you choose between all the operating systems on the iPod each time that you perform a hard reset by holding down the Menu and Select buttons simultaneously.
  iPodLinux can be downloaded at www.ipodwizard.net/showthread.php?t=34787>>3) Download Wikipedia to your iPod This one will require iPodLinux, and currently requires almost 2 GB of free space (so its better for the iPods at 10 GB or greater of storage capacity). However, you can download all of Wikipedias current content, which is searchable by entering text from a menu (thanks to iPodLinux.)

Among games that you can install and run are PodMAME (an arcade machine emulator), Pod Pod Revolution (a rhythm-based game using songs from your library), iGems (a clone of Bejewelled), Invaders (a clone of Space Invaders), a Pac-Man clone, the first two DOOM games for PC, and even Sudoku.
  5) Turn your iPod into a universal remote This hack requires a purchase of the Total Remote software, along with an infrared converter for Pocket PCs (can be found together as a package for about $15). Once you have these items, however, you can turn your iPod into a universal remote for just about anything you can think of. This is done by capturing the signals that the remotes put out, and saving them as sound files on the iPod.

Aside from customizing the look of the iPod, these also help protect against scratching and grease smudges.
