  Worth the Wait

  I'll admit, I've been running Windows 7 for six months now: the preproduction version of it and have just upgraded to the gold code. So I have quite a bit of experience with the operating system. Let's get to the nitty gritty:Should you upgrade from Windows Vista? YES! I mean it - upgrade today.Windows 7 is quite simply faster, more stable, boots faster, goes to sleep faster, comes back from sleep faster, manages your files better and on top of that it's beautiful to look at and easy to use. Even the preproduction version of Windows 7 was better than my Vista with SP2.Should you upgrade from Windows XP? Maybe, but for different reasons.XP is a good operating system and if you don't need to add new hardware or software, XP is good. However, XP is old as an operating system.   Plan Before you Buy

  If you're looking at Ultimate, chances are it's for one of these three reasons:1) You have Vista Ultimate and don't want to lose all your programs/settings (more on this in a moment)2) You want BitLocker hardware-level encryption.   Worth the price

  I've never used the Tormek 2006 so I can't really compare this new model with it other than to say that the color's changed. But since no one else has reviewed this item, here goes:I'd pretty much go ahead and agree with anyone who says Tormek is an outstanding value and is worth the high price. This is a very well-made machine and Tormek stands behind their products and jigs. I've invested too much in my tools to not take proper care of them; my Tormek is used to sharpen an arsenal of tools that have a combined worth of more than twice the cost of the machine and all its accessories.For what it's worth:This package did not come with the TTS-100 Turning Tool Setter. I had to buy that separately. You will want it if you're going to be sharping your gouges or skew chisels.Don't let the included DVD be a major selling point; the Tormek website has videos of all the jigs in use and there's nothing different on the DVD.   A true complete kit

  I received this package as a Christmas gift. It is an incredible package. If you are interested you can view a dozen or so videos about it on youtube. I watched them over and over prior to wanting it. It is an investment for sure with a price tag over a grand. I feel it is truly worth it. The video is very comprehensive and you can probably borrow one from your local Woodcraft. (I did that also.) This kit comes with a nice box for each jig to be stored in. I made a cabinet with drawers for each box to rest in. One for turning tools, one for chisels, etc. I also mounted the machine on a lazy susan so that I don't have to pick up the machine to turn it around as some operations are done in reverse. I just mounted it and made some dowel stops to secure it in the forward or reverse position. Words can only do so much. I really suggest the videos.   Make sure your computer has a TPM chip

  In order to use bitlocker, your computer must have a TPM chip in it. If not, you can turn bitlocker on but have to use a USB drive to hold the key file every time you boot it up. An acceptable solution for a desktop, but for a laptop a bit of an inconvenience having a USB drive sticking out of it, plus it takes up a USB port. My 2 month old Dell XPS laptop had the option of having Win 7 Home Premium, Professional, or Ultimate installed, so I assumed I could upgrade afterwards. Turns out they must only put that chip into models shipping with Ultimate already. So double check that if bitlocker is important to you.Other than this issue, the update process was quick and painless. It seemed to take less time than installing a regular software program since it didn't have to load off the CD and do a lot of registry changing.Ultimate itself with the XP mode seems a good upgrade for me.   Ultimate Spider-man in title only

  This series biggest sin is not following the framework of the amazing comic book series. There isn't a hint of Brian Michael Bendis in this. That is the worst decision. USM is Bendis. The second worst thing is that there is not enough Peter Parker. The third and final thing is why would you put Spiderman on a team of characters that aren't interesting in the least. I have loved USM from the beginning and this is a bastardization of that great idea.   "Exclusive" - A better episode, but is this a good thing?

  "Exclusive" is probably the best Ultimate Spider-Man episode so far. It's still not up to the standard of "Spectacular Spider-Man", but it's a massive improvement. Unfortunately, I don't think this signals the start of better quality for the series as a whole. "Exclusive" was good because it was outside the mold of the rest of the episodes. No psychedelic cut-aways into Peter's hyperactive brain. Not too many lame jokes. Only one brief glimpse of Peter's "team" in what was probably the most irritating scene of the entire episode. But there's nothing to suggest that these elements aren't going to be back in full force for the rest of the season, and they are what's ruining the show. For me, "Exclusive" is sign that Ultimate Spider-Man COULD be excellent.   A slow start but room to grow

  This show starts off very slow and misses alot of the major points that most Spider-man fans expect. There is very little connection between the show and the comic series that it stole its title from. That being said, this show is geared more for young children and early teens. It does show a large percent of Spider-man's quarks. However it seems to mix Spider-man and Deadpool up because Peter can break the 4th wall and talk to the watcher.The show does not have much apeal when it starts out but as the episodes progress you get to see more of a promising development as Spider-Man shows he isn't just a wise cracking kid that doesn't know what he is doing. Watch it if you have some free time and are willing to take a more junior look at the Spider-Man for a more modern generation.   Probably the most epic Invincible collection yet

  It seems wrong somehow to call Invincible Ultimate Collection volume 7 "the one we've all been waiting for," because I pretty much have waited for every new collection since volume 1 with the same sense of excitement. Still, events in volume 6 made it clear that this collection was "the big one," and one that would really change things for our hero.The first half of this collection is focused on the war against the Viltrumites, and as you might expect it's a bloody, violent, action-packed series of issues. We get to see some bonding between Omni-Man and Oliver as well as Allen and Tech Jacket (a Kirkman creation I wasn't previously familiar with), but the main focus is planetary-scale punch-outs between Viltrumites and the opposition's heaviest hitters (and of course Invincible). In the aftermath of the war (and that's something that will take some getting used to, by the way), Mark returns to Earth to try and come to terms with recent events.   Wow, Ive installed so many screen protectors its ridiculous, and this one tops them all.

  Ive installed more screen protectors ("SP" from here on) than I can count. Both wet and dry installs, with mixed results. There are positives and negatives of both. Wet: Harder to install, risk of water damage, sticky/ spongy feel, but last forever. Dry: Easier to install, feel more like the screen should, but rarely last long (At least for the throw away 3 pack types). The Ringbo is a mix of both. Somewhat easy to install, with a few issues Ill get to, screen is glass smooth, but doesn't feel like its going to start peeling in a month like others Ive used.From experience Ive learned that one of the most important, if not the most important thing involved is having as much of a dust free environment as possible. So what I have done with my last few installs was to do it in the bathroom. There is a lot less dust in there because people aren't always in there.   This one seems the better one, was kinda hard to find a simple one from amazon, sinceother one you had to spray and squeegee it, theres really not many screenprotectors at the moment for the Tab 2. Not to hard to install since its dry. Had a couple ofbubbles on mine, starting to disappear little by little. They give 2 which is niceif you make a mistake.   A Variable Collection

  This is a variable collection, with some acutely imaginative short-stories, mixed in with lengthy novellas. Some are outstanding. The short stories of P.K. Dick are of course excellent, as are the longer stories of Marion Zimmer Bradley (both towards the end of the book), but others have no place in a Science Fiction collection at all. The worst example is 'Angel Island' by Inez Haynes Gillmore (the third novella in the book). This rambles on for more than a dozen chapters. It is rather too self-consciously elegantly written and consists of an outdated exploration of male-female relationships displaying attitudes that date I would guess from somewhere around the very beginning of the 20th century. A group of five ship-wrecked men meet a group of five flying Angels on a desert island whom they seek to tame and normalise to make into their companions.   No active table of contents. Boycott these versions

  These are el cheapo conversions. There is no table of contents and since it is sequential with no page numbering reading this is a pain. Besides which most of the stories in the series date from the pre World War II period and are exceedingly dated. I would recommend boycotting any Kindle collection that lacks an active table of contents and Amazon should be ashamed of itself for not warning the customer. 1/5 Ian S.   These disks were by far the best ones I have ever owned. I've played with Wham-o as well as other cheap brands before but none fly through the air quite as good as discraft.   Have used many products, PTR as well, and this ultimate cream is by far the best eye cream I have ever used.   I keep WANTING to love PTR products, but always find something cheaper or organic that's better. I have extremely dry skin, and this lotion felt very moisturizing to the touch, but seemed to need quite a bit of time to soak in, making makeup application difficult.
