Glider on 64 bit XP or Vista

  • Jul 16, 2007 from mmoverload(Søren Kamper)
mmoverload As you might know, the "shadow enable" in Glider is not working on 64 bit OS'. This is the single most important option to have enabled to avoid detection, so playing without it is kinda risky. I found this on the mmOverload forum, which explains a pretty radical work-around - but a working one.

Great Company with a Big Bang for your Buck product

I own a computer that utilizes Windows Vista (64 bit) and was not having success installing wireless adapters from two reputable companies. At this point I was ready to cut open walls and run the ethernet cable to my computer. I mentioned the problem to my computer geek cousin and he told me to purchase a medialink wireless adapter as it supports Windows Vista 32 and 64. So I googled the wireless adapter and found that Amazon carried it. So I went to Amazon.com and there it was in the medialink adapter's product information, compatible with Vista 32 and 64. At $29.99 ( $10.00 cheaper then the previous two adapters), I thought it was worth the risk. I recieved it two days later and proceeded to install the medialink wireless G USB adapter and again no success. At this point I'm ready to punch a hole in the wall out of frustration. I finally decided to contact Mediabridge to convey my dissatisfaction. The phone was picked up after one ring and a customer service person rerouted me to... 5/5 RSV - See all my reviews This review is from: Medialink - Wireless N USB Adapter - 802.11n - 150Mbps - 2.4ghz - Windows 2000 / 2003 / XP 32-Bit and 64-Bit / Vista 32-Bit and 64-Bit / Windows 7 32-Bit and 64-Bit Compatible (Electronics) I own a computer that utilizes Windows Vista (64 bit) and was not having success installing wireless adapters from two reputable companies. Compatible with WD TV Live

I purchased this adapter with high hopes that it would somehow magically work with my , despite my knowing that it was an unrealistic expectation since the dongle comes with it's own drivers. At best, I was expecting to have to run some home-brewed firmware on the WD TV in order to get this to work.Lo and behold, I plugged it in and it was recognized within seconds. In under a minute, the box was connected to my network and I was streaming YouTube video to my upstairs bedroom. I was absolutely amazed. This dongle is not yet listed on WD TV Live's supported device list, and I've found no previous posts or reviews confirming this compatibility. Hope this helps those looking at this for the same reason that I was. 5/5 Alan Novitskiy "wrench monkey" (San Fancisco, CA) - See all my reviews, December 4, 2009

    A rare find - a multi-OS Wireless N adapter!

I recently added Mac OS X to my Windows Dell Mini 9. I had replaced the WiFi card in the Mini with an Intel 5300 which is great, but there's no Mac OS support. So I was on the lookout for an inexpensive USB adapter that supported OS X and Windows - if it was wireless N also, that would be a bonus. A couple of weeks ago when I started this search, I came up empty, but this time I found the Medialink adapter, which claimed to support Windows, OS X and Linux. I decided to give it a try. When I received it I was upset to see that the packaging claimed support for Windows only, and the Medialink web site has only Windows drivers. But the instruction leaflet says that OS X and Linux drivers are on the CD and sure enough, they are.Medialink claims that this is one of the smallest Wireless N USB adapters and I believe them - it's half the size of an Actiontec adapter I recently reviewed.I first tried it under Windows 7. The driver installed nicely and... 4/5 S. Lionel (NH USA) - See all my reviews, October 25, 2009

    Horrible choice

It seemed like a great deal, unfortunately its not. Small light weight, USB 2 sounded awesome. Unstable, the stand does not hold it sill. am unimpressed with this item. It has only one focus point, and that is determined by the zoom, so only one zoom setting actually. Also the program that comes with it lacks any decent tools . NO auto focus. Also the program did not recognize the microscope when I tried to use it after closing the program and restarting it. I had planned on buying a few of these for my family, not any more. 1/5 BigRockJohnson (RICHMOND, CA, US) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Good solid product!

If your looking for a portable microscope so to say then look no further.I use this with my mac book and it works great the magnification is top notch as is the clarity.I use this in my lab looking at different pests and trichromes with great results.LOOK no further i've paid over 150$ in the past for basically the same product and the exspensive one failed on me.I've only had this new one for about a month or two but use it almost daily and it works great even when i am not the most gentle with it accidently of course. You will not find another for the low price as this one is especially one compatiable with mac. 5/5 Kushlvr - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) How do-it-yourselfers do Windows

If you've reinstalled Windows just once in your life, you've learned enough to tackle a full virgin installation of Windows 7 from a system builder DVD. Microsoft has finally created an operating system with so much built-in support and maintenance technology it practically does all the work for you, so if your current Windows XP machine is labeled "Windows Vista Capable" or "Windows 7 Capable," this is the way to go. Just to be sure, install and run Microsoft's Upgrade Advisor. If it passes the 64-bit system requirements, order up!You can't upgrade from XP to 7; you have to wipe the drive or partition and perform a clean install, but even an upgrade from Vista to 7 is fraught with peril, so you might as well do the same if you're running Vista. Just back up your data and find all your application installation software before you begin. Once you activate Windows 7, it's married to the PC's system board. You can't reuse the product key on another machine unless you can... 5/5 Joseph Ekaitis "author of Collinsfort Village" (Southern California) - See all my reviews, July 10, 2011

Works well with parallels for Mac

After much research I decided to go with this OEM version of Windows 7 Professional SP1 to run virtually on my new MacBook Pro running Parallels. The install was flawless and it actually runs very fast on my MacBook. I turned off all accelerators and auto-everything. The main reason I wanted the system set up this way was to be able to run the Windows version of Quicken and Turbo Tax which I've been using for more years than I care to recall. I am able to do this concurrent with running OS X, which is very convenient. No conflicts with anything. Great solution to enable a Windows user to switch to Apple and bring essential programs and documents from the Windows environment over to Mac without missing a beat! 5/5 Carl Beatty - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Easy Install, no problem encountered.

I was running Windows XP SP3 prior to this "upgrade". They call it an upgrade, but it was a full system init and a re-install of all my software. While this is my preferred method for a new operating system, it would have been nice to have the option to upgrade rather than do a new install. That being said, the process went smoothly and quickly. From start to finish to get up and running on Windows 7 with SP1 it took about 90 minutes. Now that did not include re-installing my applications, just the basic Windows 7 OS being up and running on my machine.I have never used MS support in the past, so I had no reservations about buying an OEM product with no MS support.I would recommend this product to anyone that has installed an OS in the past and does not feel they will ever need to us MS for support. 4/5 Philip Wojcikiewicz (Darien, IL USA) - See all my reviews, April 22, 2011

    Great...minus the drivers

I purchased two of these wireless adapters, as I remodeled my basement and wanted to keep from having cables trailing across the floor. When I installed the first adapter (on a Windows Vista machine), my wired connection was still established and the driver installed automatically and it worked perfectly. However, I installed the second adapter on the other computer (running Windows 7), I had already disconnected the Ethernet cable and was forced to use the disc to install the driver. While I was impressed with the utilities that came with the disc, after about 24 hours of being installed, my computer began crashing unexpectedly, showing a "blue screen of death" and completely shutting down. About ready to give up on the adapter, I uninstalled it, plugged in an Ethernet cable, and plugged in the adapter again. The driver that downloaded automatically worked great and there haven't been any issues since then.FINAL WORD: The adapters are great, but only if you use the... 4/5 J. L. Incredible for the price -- but not for all applications

This is, by far, the cheapest option right now for a comparable length USB MIDI interface cable: a measly $6. For those who want a straight answer: yes, it works. For me. If yours doesn't, HDE has a great return policy.PROS:- Very easy setup, driver installs automatically within seconds- Windows XP, Vista 32 and 64-bit compatible- Very cheap, while offering an authentic USB MIDI interfaceCONS:- Cord is a little too short for me--about 5 feet- High latency. Latency is the time it takes for input from your keyboard to reach your computer, and in my experience the latency for this interface is really high--around a quarter to three quarters of a second. This makes it very hard to play live accompaniment to background music you've created. However, if you disable MIDI playback in your sequencing program and just listen to the notes as they're played on your keyboard, you can shift all of the notes in your program after you've finished... 4/5 Benjamin T. Great for synthesia

Quick note: make sure the 'In' plug goes into your 'Out' on your keyboard and vice-versa.I bought this to work with a game like guitar hero, but for the piano, Synthesia. The game plays the notes on your computer screen, and then the music comes out your keyboard (best to prevent lag).I experience practically no lag when working with Mixcraft, using the sound driver "Wave-RT" in the settings. A Great Little Scanner

SUMMARYWith a few caveats, this is a great little scanner. The best part is that it actually fits in my Targus computer case WITH my laptop. It weighs only 2-3 pds, and runs off USB power---no converter brick to haul around. Scans are sharp and fast. The automatic settings work very well for nearly all typical originals (old photos, business letters, receipts, etc.). Despite some shortcomings, the price and exceptional portability may make this series of scanners the choice for scanning books---because books which need to be scanned are often non-circulating items in libraries or archives.SHORTCOMINGSUnfortunately, the particular design of this scanner (and all other LED-based scanners) is that (unlike most fat desktop scanners) it cannot scan 3D objects. Any portion of your document or image which is not in absolute contact with the glass patten will be very blurry. The raised frame raises the edges of any original which does not fit on the glass patten,... 5/5 Stoney (Miami, FL) - See all my reviews, October 8, 2010

    Love this scanner!

I scrapbook and was transitioning from manual scrapbooking to digital. I had tons of pictures that needed to be scanned into my laptop (thousands). We looked at the small picture scanners that scan hundreds of pictures in an hour or so. Decided against them because even though fast, the quality of the scans were grainy and you had to use sleeves for the pics. They didn't get good reviews and were double the price of this scanner. This was one of the cheaper full sized scanners we found on Amazon, we decided that the Canon name had to be good for the price. IT IS! It is SO easy to use, nothing complicated at all. The software was easy to load and very user friendly. I discovered I could scan multiple pictures at a time and the software would separate them into their own files so there was no messing around with trying to cut and paste in order to do multiples at one time. Easy to set-up, professional results

I recently purchased the Canon CanoScan LiDE 110 as a replacement for an older LiDE 30. This LiDE's most important features is that it is compatible with all versions of Microsoft Windows, including Windows 7 64-bit (the older version is not compatible with 64-bit versions of windows) and the fact that it is powered through the USB 2.0 cable, meaning no power supply to carry around or finding a place to plug in, a plus for use with a notebook computer. After following the directions for installation, installing the drivers before plugging the scanner into the computer, everything went flawlessly, and the first time the scanner was plugged in, after rebooting, the hardware was found and driver installed. While this can be used as a stand alone flatbed copier, it can also scan to PDF files right from a button on the front of the scanner, meaning you won't need to have a full featured PDF creation program to create PDF files. A button can also be configured to send... 5/5 M. Francis "mfmusic" (Los Angeles, CA USA) - See all my reviews, November 1, 2010

    Works just fine

The title says it all. Compliments my SignaLink USB to bring an IC-735 into the 21st Century with computer control and digital modes. FTDI drivers available for most versions of Windows, etc. 4/5 DSPman "Rick" (East Tennessee, United States) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) USB to CI-V Interface Cable

The cable came very quickly. I plugged it in a USB port and Windows 7 - 64bit immediately recognized it. It is now working perfectly and I'm utilizing it for total rig control of my IC765. 5/5 John - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Satisfactory in every way.

Items like this only get attention when they disappoint. The cable I bought works fine, appears to be of quality construction and was delivered by the promised date.
