    New to PS.

I am a new user of Photoshop and was absolutely overwhelmed when I loaded it and tried to use it. Step by step, this book walks you through how to learn and use this program through structured exercises starting with the most basic functions. It was easy to load the tutorial material on my computer and begin to use it. I have been able to create some pretty good photos by substituting my photos for the tutoral photos and following the lesson outline. For me, anyway, repitition seems to work best. Don't get in too big of a hurry to start doing advanced techniques or you might miss some of the basic techniques that are important. Good Luck 5/5 D. Truly a classroom in a book

I purchased this book as the text for a Photoshop Elements class at my local college. The class consists of six 3-hour sessions, covering two chapters per session that are designed like lesson plans. We literally march through the book, completing each exercise as written. The book provides a blueprint such that I can replicate each lesson at home if I want to practice further. In fact, with the exception of asking a few clarifying questions of the teacher, the class was really unnecessary since the book could stand easily on its own. There are two chapters specific to Mac users where Bridge is incorporated... which I understand is no longer used in version 9, so if you haven't bought yet, consider version 9. There is a CD included with the book that contains the lessons you will need to complete the assignments in the book, but the CD does not include the Elements software itself, so that will be an additional purchase. I got mine on sale at a local electronics store (plus a... 4/5 Rhonda - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Classroom in a Book- Adobe Photoshop Elements 8

The "Classroom in a Book" series is a great help in learning Adobe software. It contains complete and informative lessons on CD that will help one learn how to use the software. One actively works through the lessons and learns. When you get into complicated software, the "Classroom in a Book" publications are a must. The book that I purchased on "Dreamweaver" 2 years ago was a lifesaver. Withour it I would not be using the expensive software to do my web site at this time. It is still helpful even now that I have a working knowlege of the software. I am currently working through the "Photoshop Elements Classroom in a Book" and am putting it to good use on my web site. 5/5 Brenda Sue Williams - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) 1 Star for the Organizer

Photoshop Elements 8 consists of two different programs, the Editor and the Organizer, and the online photo-sharing service Photoshop.com, all only loosely tied together. I give the Editor 5 stars and the Organizer and Photoshop.com 1 star.Adobe provides a 30-day free trial for PSE 8 - be sure to try first before you buy!5 STARS FOR THE EDITORThe Editor is a reduced version of the full Photoshop CS, but with most of the features that a serious hobbyist (and even many professionals) would ever want for editing photos. Since it's based on full Photoshop, the PSE Editor is robust and stable, with very few serious bugs. Considering that Photoshop CS costs about eight times as much, the Editor is an excellent value. Adobe's Web site gives a good, accurate overview of the Editor.1 STAR FOR THE ORGANIZER AND PHOTOSHOP.COMThe Organizer is the program that lets you annotate and group your photos and quickly search them, and the... 1/5 John (Woodside, US, Canada) - See all my reviews, October 24, 2009

    Two cheers

I've used Photoshop since Version 5 and currently use CS4. I've also been using Elements for maybe 5 years or more. For everyday family and landscape pix, Elements has been my editor of choice. But then Picasa came along and I found that I could do maybe 60 per cent of my photo handling more easily and quickly in Picasa, particularly since version 3. And the price is right. I nevertheless paid the bucks for Elements 8 because Picasa has its limits; when you need to apply operations to selected parts of a photo, you need Elements or the full PS. But Elements also has its limits: when you need to work on a lot of photos, it's a pain. Here's my first impressions. The first thing you see when you bring up Elements 8 is a dialog with a choice between Organize and Edit. Wrong, wrong, wrong. When I have a batch of photos to process, Organize is Edit, and Edit is Organize. I need to switch back and forth between editing and organizing dozens of times and it needs to... 3/5 Martin - See all my reviews This review is from: Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 [Old Version] (DVD-ROM) I've used Photoshop since Version 5 and currently use CS4. Some new twists on PSE 7.0 make this a worthy upgrade

Ok, let's start with the top question: Do you or I really need another upgrade of Photoshop Elements? Is it vastly different than (6.0 or 7.0) and should this be my digital photo editing and organizing software of choice? I will cover the main points of the changes from Version 6.0 and 7.0 in this review. I have also reviewed which is the video editor, and comes as a package option with Photoshop Elements 8.Photoshop Elements has two components-- an editor, where you do your digital picture manipulation, and a file organizer or album where you store and retrieve your images. The interface for the editor is the same whether or not you use Mac or Windows, so if you are switching from one OS (say, MAC's at school, Windows at home) you will be very comfortable with Photoshop Elements. Where the systems... 5/5 Joanna Daneman (Middletown, DE USA) - See all my reviews, October 14, 2009

Who Should and Shouldn't Buy This!

Customer Video Review Length:: 5:18 MinsI have used Photoshop Elements since version 2 and I strongly believe it is the best photo-editing program available for under $100. It will do most of the editing tasks that the full version of Photoshop does but at a fraction of the cost. It is the software I have my "Digital Photography" and "Digital Drawing and Painting" students use for the college courses I teach. If you are serious or semi-serious about editing your photos I highly recommend that you purchase this. In addition, an important advantage of learning (and using) Elements is that if you decide to someday move up to the full version of Photoshop all the stuff you learned translates to the more expensive program. Also, there is a TON of instructional material available online (most of it free!) and in books that will help you learn this program.I've included a short video showing a few of the features of Elements 10 and how they compare with the same features in... 5/5 V. Powerful image editor; remains feature-dense (and *really* wants you online for Adobe services!)...

Photoshop Elements (PSE) 10 --like its predecessor versions-- is an image editor with a spectrum of features that will rapidly surpass the skills (and time available to tinker) of most amateur digital photographers...even highly skilled ones. The overall interface will be familiar to user of PSE versions as far back as PSE 6 or 7. It incorporates most of the multiple image merge functions familiar to users since PSE 7. As with previous versions, PSE 10 offers this for a fraction of the cost of its big-brother . Most amateur photographers --and even some frugal professionals-- can perform all but the most advanced digital editing with PSE 10 (and then use the money saved for some nice new hardware!).Note: This review assumes some familiarity with digital photography and digital image concepts, and previous exposure... 4/5 35-year Technology Consumer "8-tracks to 802.11" (Mid Atlantic, USA) - See all my reviews, October 26, 2011

I am a user of Photoshop Elements. I downgraded from Photoshop CS(x) as I no longer needed such a powerful program. Adobe Elements offers all of the features that most home users want or need. I have given it four stars instead of five because I think the Help component is lacking. As to the other reviewer who gave this program 1 star, I have to point out that Adobe Photoshop Elements is NOT movie editing software. It is photo editing software. Perhaps she was referring to Adobe Premiere Elements, which is a movie editing software application. 4/5 June Campbell "June" (North Vancouver, BC Canada) - See all my reviews This review is from: Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 (Software) I am a user of Photoshop Elements. Truly a classroom in a book

I purchased this book as the text for a Photoshop Elements class at my local college. Like earlier versions of Photoshop Elements (PSE), is both powerful and complex. While it has some automated functions, users hoping to harness its full power are going to need some help. She effectively breaks down the the concepts of file management, basic editing, image manipulation and sharing of the results of these digital editing techniques. Five Stars for Photoshop Elements, Three Stars for Premiere

I installed this Adobe bundle on a brand new HP PC with a Intel 2 Quad processor and Windows 7, and, while I love Photoshop and some of the upgraded features, Premiere crashed twice the first time I used it and took forever to process. (More on preventing crashes later.) Photoshop is a must-have program. Premiere is a basic, no-frills program with some major issues, designed for composing movies out of digital video clips and still photos.First, Photoshop: Photoshop Elements remains one of the most powerful image processors for the non-professional user. From special effects to simply improving the look of standard photos, the software can manipulate photos in almost any way you can imagine. Out of the newest features, the most interesting are recomposition tools, size presets, and facial recognition. In the first, the user can unlock the background from the foreground and bring foreground images closer or farther from one another, and can even remove unsightly... 4/5 Debbie Lee Wesselmann (the Lehigh Valley, PA) - See all my reviews, November 30, 2009

    The Upgrade That Never Was

Revised 09/23/2010 Adobe relesed Premiere Elements 9 today, as this writting I have found none of the conflicts and problems that were present in PE8. Don't even think of purchasing PE8, Adobe never revised it throughout it's production run, all copies have the conflict and other performance issues. I do however believe that the issues have been resolved with Premiere Elements 9. Adobe should have publicly acknowledged PE8's problems rather than pretending it was a stable product, this is textbook case of how not to handle a difficult situation. Shamefull behavior Adobe, very, very weak.Revised 06/03/2010 Premiere Elements/Photoshop 8 has serious problems that render it useless to a majority of users. Initially problems were traced to conflicts with Realtek Audio and Nvidia graphics card installation software, now users with other hardware configurations are also reporting frequent crashes and stability issues with the PE/PSE 8 bundle. These type of conflicts... 2/5 Jack Olson (Redmond, Wa USA) - See all my reviews, October 21, 2009

    Money Wasted

Purchased Adobe Photoshop & Premiere Elements 8 to run on a custom built high end computer designed specifically to handle the performance demands of video editing. This suite of programs is a total and complete waste of money. Slow and buggy does not begin to describe. Should you be wondering, the computer system in question is running Vista 64 (though the program is designed for a 32 bit operating system, 64 bit is supposedly "no problem" according to Adobe tech support) on the latest multi core Intel CPU on an Asus motherboard with 12 Gigabytes of Ram, two 10,000 rpm hard drives, top end video card, etc., etc. All drivers are up to date and everything else on the system works flawlessly.I am incredibly disappointed and since the software has been opened and I cannot return, I'm out the $144. We had several annoying problems with an earlier edition of Adobe elements (number 3 I believe) but always chalked it up to a less than adequate computer. Simply not the case... 1/5 Loma Rica "Sal" (Foothills, California) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Better than expected

Having taught myself how to use earlier versions of Adobe Premiere Elements prior to the release of Version 7, I'd always been able to do just the basics when it came to video editing. Enter Version 7 and a desire to really learn this product. After browsing on Amazon I discovered the "Class on Demand" series and Tim Kolb's Learning DVD for the "Fundamentals of Adobe Premiere Elements 7". I ordered it, watched it over a series of nights, and man I'm glad I did. All of the features on premiere elements 7 which I couldn't quite grasp from the instruction manual "smart tagging, organization, certain image correction effects" all fell into place once I saw Mr. Kolb demonstate and explain these once arcane areas. I occasionaly go back to certain "classes" on the DVD and find myself always picking up some new trick or piece of advise. I strongly recommend this DVD to anyone trying to master Elements 7. But the proof is in the images - from my collection of short videos I regularly post on... 4/5 Andrew Lerner "LernerNet" (Palm Springs, CA USA) - See all my reviews, June 20, 2009

Excellent Video Tutorial on Adobe Elements Premiere 7

Loved this tutorial. Very well done in a logical sequence transitioning from one skill to the next. I highly recommend this video to everyone from beginners (like me) or intermediate users. This is probably the best tutorial on the market for Adobe Elements Premiere 7. Good Job Tim Kolb.My pnly problem with the video is I have a 64 bit Vista Home Premium Operating System fine for me. 5/5 Linda Zeiger Kopatz "smokey" (Newhall CA) - See all my reviews, October 13, 2009

    Any ideas?

I bought this video just recently, I wasn't able to download it. I asked for help to the company technician, I followed his instructions but I wasn't able to download the program. I get a message "APEL.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." For 2 days I have not received E-mail's from the technician. I never had problems before downloading programs, this is the first time I couldn't download a program. I'm able to download the folders of photos, but not the operating program. I reviewed the site and program and I liked it bought the DVD but no luck in downloading it. 1/5 Son of thunder (LA Co, CA USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
