  I'm an accountant and have helped start ups as well as established companies that need planning. This product is very useful and has powerful tools. If you need to create a business plan you need this product.   Fantastic tool for creating a rock-solid business plan...

  Several years ago while starting a new business on the east coast, I used a much older version of Palo Alto - Business Plan Pro. I recently downloaded another copy in order to help with a new business I am launching that will need a loan-worthy Business Plan on top of the great idea we have. The differences between this version 12 and the version we saw several years ago are very substantial! The user interface was simple to use from the start and we are already well on our way to completing our business plan in record time. And the best part has been the ability to do this without having to consult lawyers and accountants!   A highly organized program that can compete with the best business plans created from business colleges!

  This is a great program! I started working with this and then got a sneak peek at a friend's business plan that he was creating out of business school and this program reviled if not surpassed his outlines in many ways. If you are interested in starting your own business and need to present a plan to investors or a bank I would highly recommend this. It is very in depth and takes a lot longer than a day to fill out. Not for someone who deosn't plan on following through, but if you are someone looking to establish a future for yourself as an entrepreneur then this will definitely make sure you are covered on all areas related to your business start up. 5/5 A.   I have had several versions of Business Plan Pro over the years, and have loved it. The new user interface in Version 11 has made it much easier to keep my business plan upt to date. I especially like that it gives you an estimate on how long each of the steps should take. It makes the whole process less daunting.I read one of the reviews about the Tech Support at Palo Alto Software, and that made me want to post this message. I have had to call tech support in the past and they have been really good at helping me troubleshoot the issues I have come up with. I had a problem similar to the other poster in an older version, where it looked like nothing was typing into the program, and all my menus were blank. Tech Support help me find that this issue was caused by a high contrast window setting on my PC, and not something in the software.   Great jump start for writing your business plan

  Having written several different business plans (and having used several different versions of Palo Alto's BP software) I have to say that Business Plan Pro has always been a great way to create business plans on the fly. It offers many different types of templates for different types of businesses. These templates are wonderful starting points for creating business plans. The Standard Edition of Business Plan Pro provides great flexibility for creating simple business plans that don't involve things like Quickbooks or Excel integration. For more complex financial tasks, you may have to spring for the Premier version.I have recommended this software to friends and would definitely never fail to use it for any future business plans that I may have to create.I love it. My only caution to the customer is that these templates are great jumping off points and not meant to be taken as-is.   Huge Time Saver

  Not too long ago, I wrote a 20-page business plan just from scratch. Maybe that was a good exercise but I'll never do it again. It was too time consuming. This software makes the job easy and dramatically reduces the time versus writing from scratch.The time saved and professionalism in using this software even once will justify the investment. After all, one does not write a business plan without intending to invest money in startup costs.Another advantage is the completeness of a work product from Business Plan Pro 15th edition. It's doubtful one would independently design a business plan that covers as much ground without this software.I had always thought writing business plans was tedious and therefore many people simply have it in their heads. It's mush wiser to generate a bone fide business plan, but use a software tool to save an incredible number of hours.   I tried to create a business plan by following the guidelines and outlines of many books that I checked out from the library. They all had different ideas and formats and this frustrated me.I bought this software in the hopes that it would guide me - much like a program such as TurboTax guides a user in completing their tax returns.   I paid for the software, but it would not install...I made several attempts. Amazon said that it was the software manufacturers problem not theirs.   The ratings are correct, unfortunately

  After using other products by Individual Software, I thought that my experience would allow me to squeeze value out of this product. I was wrong.Unlike their resume maker products, this one is a stinker. Their samples are barely useful, and no more useful than what you can find with a simple internet search. It seems that half the time when you are given a section of the business plan to fill out, they provide NO example. Contrast that with their resume maker, where that software practically writes your resume for you.The approx. 300 sample plans they include are barely worth the effort of looking at. Why didn't they include more industries? And if you want more plan material, you're given links to pay sites. Thanks for the nickel-and-dime.Bottom line: Download business plan templates from the SBA for free. Then do a search for online sample plans (also free).
