Belkin 55-Piece Computer Tool Kit with Black Case
CE (Belkin Inc.)
List Price: $58.99
Used by a computer tech for 3 years
This is the kit the company I work for bought for the computer support technicians. It is more of a general electronics tool kit than the specialized computer tool kits Belkin offers, but I have found plenty of uses for the kit outside of the office (but don't tell my boss that). I've been using the kit for 3 years now, and the only thing that is not original is the flashlight - that is the only really cheap thing in the kit - get a Mini-Mag to replace it and you'll be fine. This kit includes an allen wrench set, mini pocket screwdriver, small diagonal cutters, long nose pliers, wire stripper, mini-screwdriver set, 6" extended phillips bit, pen knife, IC chip remover, tweezers, soldering iron with solder and wick, parts retriever and a ratcheting screwdriver with standard, phillips, torx, and square bits and both metric and standard sockets with a socket bit. I've used this kit on PC computers, laptops, wiring of all sorts, electronics repairs, home repairs, etc. All the... 5/5 "da_sandman" (Fountain Valley, CA United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Belkin 55-Piece Computer Tool Kit with Black Case (Personal Computers) This is the kit the company I work for bought for the computer support technicians. I'm a computer technician and I've had this toolkit for probably 5 or 6 years, while some of the tools are more electronics specific, the best part is the case itself. The case has held up remarkably over the years and is very universal, the torque screwdriver's torque component broke making it useless, but I easily replaced it with a Craftsman Torque Screwdriver which is much more durable, and the bits are of course compatible. The material covering the outside of the case just recently started chipping off, so here I am looking to buy another one (I just wish it didn't have to come with the tools again) I've also replaced the cheap flashlight with a quality maglite. The needle nose pliers also got bent to the point of being useless as well, but this is after years of use.Back in our tech bench area we have probably 4 or 5 toolkits laying around, all of them are the $10-15 types with cheap tools and a cheap case, I cannot imagine using any of those for real onsite... 4/5 P. A. Ellis (Cincinnati, OH USA) - See all my reviews, December 3, 2006Items are of moderate quality and usefulness
The tools included make a decent basic computer toolkit. The tools are unlikely to break with heavy use, but they will certainly rust eventually. I've been using these kits in various forms for years and all the pliers and bit drivers have ended up rusty. The soldering iron is cheap. The flashlight is crap.I would gladly pay another $25 for the kit if it contained a powerful LED flashlight with a smaller footprint and a basic power driver instead of the manual ratchet driver. 3/5 Freeman "The last bastion of freedom is insid... Anytime Tools 32 pc MICRO PRECISION SCREWDRIVER SET w/ T4 T5 T6 Mini Torx, Hex, Flat, Pozi
Home Improvement (AnytimeTools)
List Price: $20.00
Great Tool Set. But poor quality handle & non standard shaft.
Very useful tool kit. But the handle is all plastic and comes with a warning to use it cautiously to avoid damage to the plastic handle. If the handle breaks, the tool heads are useless because the shafts are non standard. Wish they were 1/4" shafts so that I can use it with most other handles. 3/5 D. S. Perera "Perera" (Charlotte, NC USA) - See all my reviews, December 24, 2007Good bits, useless screwdriver
The bit selection is great. The non-standard bit size isn't so great when the included screwdriver lasts one or two uses before it's cheap plastic parts crack open. There is a warning to this effect, but even with that the cheapness of the included screwdriver almost makes the set useless.I've yet to try using the bits with my adjustable drill chuck or any other adaptor but a quick search online showed that some manufacturers do sell sizes other than the standard 1/4" bit holders. I'm looking into replacing the screwdriver with a nicer one if I can find a size match since the smaller shank is useful for some small electronics.I'll update this review if I find a good solution, otherwise I'd recommend buying a set with either standard bits or a more robust screwdriver. 2/5 Eric Peacock (Seattle, WA USA) - See all my reviews, April 22, 2009Not tough enough
This set contained the Torx driver I needed to replace a Jeep headlight. But the plastic collar that you turn to hold the bit in the handle cracked open while being finger-tightened! I was still able to get the job done. The tool was not tough enough, but what do you expect for a 32-piece set for $13? 2/5 Gregory Monti - See all my reviews, April 29, 2008

Supposed to stop the malware from hell ... "Win 7 Antispyware 2012"
At this moment ... it's Spyware Dr. for me.I had a machine infected this week with the malware "Win 7 Antispyware 2012". It got through McAfee and Spysweeper that I've had on a corporate account for years. I looked at the infected machine and did my quick look at how extensive the damage was. "Win 7 Antispyware 2012" is a super-malware infecting the deepest recesses of the machine. My solution which has worked 100% of the time in the past is to restore a previous system from a past restore point. No dice. The infected machine can't access the web. The malware mimics a Microsoft product update perfectly. As I was to later learn, the malware attaches to and enters from Java, Adobe, and any auto-updates you might have turned on.I learned some of this from searching Google after discovering that McAfee and Spysweeper had no solution. Everyone has an opinion about this protection and I err on the side that 'less is better' ... these things effect... 5/5 robert johnston (Los Angeles) - See all my reviews, December 19, 2011Used to be good
I started using Spyware Doctor about four or five years ago. At the time, it was an amazing product. Unfortunately, something happened between then and now. Somehow they totally jacked it up and as another reviewer said, it also slowed my system down (two computers). It causes start-up to be delayed probably 200% and start-up from opening my lid on my lap top to be delayed probably 1000%. It's ridiculous. Even if it's installed on the system but not running, it still slows things down (messed up my internet browser as well). It's now garbage and I am done with it. 1/5 DolphinBlizzard - See all my reviews This review is from: PC Tools Spyware Doctor with AntiVirus 2012 - 3 PCs - 1 User (CD-ROM) I started using Spyware Doctor about four or five years ago. While this product may work for some machines, my experience has been simply awful. I installed the software on three different Win 7 machines, both 32 and 64 bit machines, including a i7 class laptop. The software really slowed down the machines and dramatically slowed down printing on a HP Office Pro 8500 Plus multifunction printer. It would take 5-7 minutes for the first page to print.I finally uninstalled software and installed Norton Security Suite 5 with great performance results.Beware....... of claims unmatched by performance. 1/5 Jack Hulsey - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Belkin 36-Piece Demagnatized Computer Tool Kit with Case (Black)
CE (Belkin Inc.)
List Price: $49.99
One of the best computer repair kits for the price
I've been fixing computer for longer than I care to admit and have gone through quite a few tool kits. This kits has all the basics: demagnetized ratcheting screwdriver, long nose pliers, wire strippers, pocket screwdriver with standard and phillips ends, anti-static wrist strap, allen wrenches, tweezers, IC extractor, parts retriever, tweezers, 6" phillips bit, metric sockets, standard bits, phillips bits, torx bits, and an 8 compartment spare parts box with some useful spare parts like jumpers. The only things that I normally use that are not in this kit are diagonal cutters that I use to make network cables (though you can use the cutters on the pliers, I like a separate cutter), and a mini screwdriver set I use on laptops. I have personally used the 55-piece kit at work for 3 years now (because the company chose that kit - can't argue with free), so I can attest to the quality of the tools. The case is wearing out badly - mostly the elastic is all shot, but the tools... 4/5 "da_sandman" (Fountain Valley, CA United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Belkin 36-Piece Demagnatized Computer Tool Kit with Case (Black) (Personal Computers) I've been fixing computer for longer than I care to admit and have gone through quite a few tool kits. DO NOT BUY!!
Buyer beware! I purchased this and my computer kept giving me error messages from the install...well after numerous phone calls and chat sessions of false promises from their IT I had to give up. They would say Employee X will be reviewing your logs in one hour and will e-mail you by the end of the day.....only to follow with no contact. Or "an engineer will be calling you, when is a good time?" but never respond! Each time I contacted them I had to wait on hold for at least 30 minutes, and then twice they disconnected the call, and didn't call me back! You want to be careful when you are editing, cleaning or doing anything else with your computer's registry. Unfortunately I wasn't careful enough and bought PC Tools Registry Mechanic. I had a known problem with my computer's registry that was getting on my nerves, and during the Christmas sales rush I bought PC Tools Registry Mechanic because it was there. I initially bought the 2011 edition then upgraded to the 2012 edition. I will admit that it sped up my computer, but it did not solve my known problem -- a DLL Error window that keeps popping up -- and it caused a problem or two of its own. I initially ran the 2011 edition while my external drive was connected and turned on (don't do that), and after that whenever I turned the computer on it went into the Install Hardware routine. Technical Support had no solution for this problem, but installing and running the 2012 version solved this problem. However, v. 2012 also seems to have turned off the monitoring of my program use... 2/5 X. Belkin F8E060 10-Piece Computer Tool Kit

Great standard computer kit
Perfectly good basic computer tool kit. I've been using a Belkin tool kit just like this one for years, then bought a no-name brand one for my girlfriend, only to have one of the screwdrivers break from normal use after like a week of owning it. Then I bought her one of these, and it's worked very well.Highly recommended. If you're thinking of saving money on a kit that's just a few dollars cheaper, you're much better off paying for the higher quality you'll find in this kit. 5/5 Mr. Coffee (San Francisco, CA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Belkin F8E060 10-Piece Computer Tool Kit (Personal Computers) Perfectly good basic computer tool kit. The tools look alot larger in the picture than they really are. The vinyl case the encompasses them is about the same size as one of my hand spreaded open; it's about the same size as a small chapter book. I use the Belkin 10-piece computer tool kit to build computers out of composite parts available for purchase. The only tool I have actually used (and need) is the #1 Phillips-Head Screwdriver. It's the only tool I've needed so far for working with my chassis.Pros: Has everything I need to open/insert computer components, cheap price, and they are easy to use due to the handles.Cons: Could have included the , or at least have a proper storage space for one, which I also bought along with this. There's enough space to store my Belkin anti-static wrist band inside... 5/5 Johnny Huynh - See all my reviews, September 15, 2007Easy 5 Star Tool Kit
I just purchased a new laptop and wanted to upgrade it myself. Usually when I work on my desktop or other peoples computers I just "borrow" tools from around my house.I decided I needed something a bit better, and stumbled across this kit. It came in a nice case, with pretty much everything you need for any type of computer repair. I literally broke down my whole laptop (Dell Studio 17) and installed a second HDD, cloned and replaced my main HDD, installed a Bluetooth module, upgraded from 2gb ram to 4gb, and also added keyboard back lighting. This Belkin tool kit included everything I needed and more to complete this "upgrade" with ease. The tools feel good in your hand (especially for the price) and with a lifetime warranty you cant go wrong. The only other item I had to purchase was an antistatic wrist band.I'm very happy with this purchase, and enjoy the size of the kit, it fits perfectly in my laptop backpack, and keeps everything in one... 5/5 Matt J. I debated quite a bit on a toolset to get. This one was perfect: it had the tools I need and NO soldering iron. Any iron you get in a kit like this is destine to fail. These tools are good quality for the price and everything you need for computer repair. I cut my own cables for my computers, and this kit is exactly what I need. In terms of your average computer goer, more than enough. I just need to buy a separate soldering iron. Not only is it useful for computer repair, but any electronics for the matter. The torx drivers make it perfect for cell phones, laptops and any electronic device I have. The mini-screwdrivers are perfect for tiny situations and the carry case is icing on the cake.My ONLY con so far is the voltage checker. While it does its job, a Volt Meter (gives actual readings) would have been better, but that's just being picky. 5/5 Evan Mcmenamy (Los Alamitos, Ca USA) - See all my reviews, December 27, 2010The 85pc tool kit
A good chunk of items in this tool kit i had to throw away because it was worthless. There is a mini vac that really sucks (no punn intended) and it gives you a mini flashlight wich is also crappy (mine never worked in the first place). If those items were left out this kit would be amazing as everything else in it is great. 2/5 S. Johnson "(insert witty name here)" - See all my reviews, August 5, 2006Save your money!
I bought this tool kit in March, hoping to have a small kit to make minor repairs. Was I ever fooled! The minature vacuum is only good until you need to empty it as there is no way to get it open. The combo wire cutter and strippers only close to 1/16th of an inch of the arms touching thereby preventing both functions. The open end wrenches still have flashing attached which is secondary to the sloppy fit of them. Actually the only thing that comes close to being right is the screw driver with the multiple tips. Of course do not plan on using the ratchet action of the screw driver. When it comes down to it, the only thing getting screwed is the sucker like me whopurchase this item.
