    Great Value

I have been using Norton to protect my computers since the 80's. Since I am a long time repeat customer, that says it all. I have tried others that worked well, but found that Norton was the least intrusive. Going about it's business in the back ground and leaving me alone. I really like the ability to turn off Norton anti-virus from the task bar when I'm installing new software, instead of burrowing down thru clicks and clicks to turn it off on it's home page. Buying this combo saves me time, effort and money. I only have to watch for one date of renewal on my computers. I used to write on my disks which one went to which computer. No longer - one disk for all! Do you own more than one computer and have been buying the single version for each one? Then you already are aware of the great value of this combo. 5/5 L. Excellent Antivirus

Throughout the years I have used several programs to protect home computers from the usual threats of surfing the web; although no Antivirus is bullet proof against every possible virus or hacker, not having an up to date antivirus is welcoming trouble. This new version compares to similar entries of other vendors, and most of the basic features are shared in all the programs. Once installed and configured, Norton Antivirus 2011 will be an automated application, downloading updates, running background scans and showing alerts of downloaded files or informing about Trojans in files that you want to execute. 5/5 Sergio Oses Puchkov (CR) - See all my reviews, December 12, 2010

    The BEST!

I've been using AVG since 2006 and I always end up sending junk emails through my Yahoo account. I installed AVG + Spybot Destroy & Search and nothing has been detected until I decided to have a go at Norton. I remember I used Norton Anti-virus a long time ago but it was so CPU intensive that I went through AVG. When I first installed it detected a major Trojan Horse and lots of suspicious cookies. I've never had any problem at all on my PC and I've never sent any junk mail at all. It's absolutely recommended to anyone wanting a reliable anti-virus and it's not CPU intensive anymore, that's why I give it five stars! 5/5 Rodrigo Albuquerque - See all my reviews, November 7, 2010

Less cluttered interface and fairly faster than 2011

Norton woke-up in 2009/10 making the interface user-friendly and its signature updates running in the background making the software less resource-hogging. It's continuing the same trend this year (NIS2012) with a little less cluttered interface - meaning most features automated for the novice user, but you have to dig in deep to make advanced changes. It works well with Windows7 as well as Win XP if you care (I don't have Vista - so cannot comment about that).1. Installation: As in the recent versions of NIS, installation was a snap. It took under 2 minutes, but needed a restart. If you have existing license for NIS, download the update from support -> check for new version menu item from within NIS. You can update the license number from the disk later when your license is about to expire. In previous version(s), NIS overwrote existing license period if you upgraded from disk. I havent checked it on this version (I still have about 90 days left, too risky!!)... 5/5 Gene Cloner (St Louis) - See all my reviews This review is from: Norton Internet Security 2012 - 1 User 3PC (Software) Norton woke-up in 2009/10 making the interface user-friendly and its signature updates running in the background making the software less resource-hogging. NIS 2011 Was Better

I bought this because the 1 year sub was up on 2011 and I was able to get 2012 for cheaper than sub for another year for the 2011 version.Install was easy but I don't see much of a difference in what 2012 offers than what 2011 had. There are a few things I don't like about 2012:1. It scans my system a lot slower.2. No option to totally turn off autoupdate like you could in 2011. Can turn off auto but pulse updates turn on then and gets greyed out so there is no way to have them both be off at the same time. I like to update it manually liked I did 2011 but can't now.3. No way to turn off quick scans like you could in 2011.4. Seems to load slower at start up when set to "aggresive" but 2011 started right away.5. When you click on settings or any of the options the software takes longer to respond. At first I didn't think I had clicked right and tried again but it took a few seconds to respond. This version appears to build upon the 2011 version. A simplified user interface masks an upgraded version of the 2011 interface. The user can now select to either have the simpler interface appear when opening up the Norton product, allowing for easy access to launch scans or for checking on/running live updates or otherwise one can set the product to regularly open up to the more advanced interface, displaying a revival of CPU and Norton usage meters, along with a trust level meter displaying the amount of files currently trusted by Norton that are on the computer after a reputation scan has been executed and also in conjunction to what setting one has selected beforehand for computer scanning purposes. The product appears to function well, with no real noticable slowdown in performance from the previous version thus continuing on with Norton's lighter footprint design and improvements which were introduced with the 2009 versions of Nortons. Quick scans are now automatically... 5/5 Dan - See all my reviews This review is from: Norton Internet Security 2012 - 1 User 3PC (Software) This version appears to build upon the 2011 version. don't be mislead by the 3PC on the box

I love norton. I buy about 10 copies a year because I have a lot of computers. I was a bit mislead by this box, 1 user 3 pcs. I thought I could install it on 3 pcs in my home and it would run for a year on each pc. well, it does not. My antivirus protection on my computers expires at different times. I just realized that when you install on the 2nd and 3rd computer, it only allows you the time left on the first computer, which to me, should be clearly advertised on the box, which I could not see it anywhere. I would have bought the other option of it, where they send you 3 discs. I did not realize it was this way. 4/5 APRIL - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Sluggish Resource Hog

I had switched to Norton back in 2009 when they started getting positive reviews for keeping resource usage at a minimum. I haven't had any real complaints with it until this 2012 version. Ever since installing it my computer runs sluggish & found it was Norton (ccSvcHst.exe) eating up 88% of my CPU just idling, it wasn't even scanning! Norton is quick to report other applications with resource usage but doesn't report itself. I cannot in good conscious recommend this product until they fix this issue & go back to using minimum resources as they did in 2009-2011. 2/5 SmokeRingHalo "smokeringhalo" (St Louis, Mo) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Well worth the investment for protection of my computer

I thought it would be interesting to match this program with my existing PC protection program. It was interesting and I am amazed. The Norton program was able to detect huge number of dangerous items during the first scan that had been apparently being missed by the other program.Norton Antivirus 2011 was designed to protect against viruses, spyware, worms,Trojans, Bots and Dangerous Downloads. While not in any way sophisticated to the level of knowing the consequences of each of the above, all of that sounds dangerous to my work which occupies most of my time. I want it protected to the state of the art! I believe that this program will protect that which is valuable...the material used and stored on my PC.The cost is reasonable and very user friendly. 5/5 Kenneth J. Kohutek "Kenneth J. Renewal Costs More Than New Software - Otherwise OK

I have been using the Norton security products for many years, and I have been for the most part very satisfied with them. The one gripe I have is that every year when I go to renew my subscription, I find that I can purchase new copies of the software for less than the renewal price. Although it is relatively easy to buy new copies of the software every year and avoid the exorbitant renewal costs, I feel like Symantec is trying to take advantage of me. I think loyal customers should be rewarded with renewal costs that are at or below readily available costs for the new software from reliable sources like Amazon. Instead, Symantec prefers to try to gouge its customers. For this software which is currently selling for $37.99 on Amazon, Symantec charges $59.99 for renewal. Norton continues its good run.... still some flaws and cosmetic improvements this time

I have been using Norton Antivirus/Internet security for years now (on 3 PCs running XP) and the big turn around for the past few years with 'light' software has been great. Most times, issues have been due to non-removal of other/earlier versions of Norton software.Installation: The recent improvements in installation are continuing to be great. I was able to upgrade from NIS2010 to 2011 in under 2 minutes. If you still have license period left from your previous installation, choose to upgrade using Norton upgrade option (You'll get pop-up notice or check Support - Check new version/product update). If you upgrade using the disc, it will over-write your existing license period (doesn't make sense, but that is the case here). However, after internet upgrade, you can enter the license code from the disc to extend the license for another year (just before your license period expires). One of the best if not the best IS software

Well, after a few month of beta testing I guess it's time to give everybody my opinion. Since 2010 Norton became my favorite security suite for my PC, and this one is no exception. I tested it on 3 different PC running XP Pro, Vista H.P.32bit and Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit. Once you get this software it will let you install on 3 different computers. Haven't tested 64bit version, but I'm pretty sure it should work the same. For those who already has a 2010 edition you won't see mush of the changes, it's more like refined version, which is a very good thing. For the interface it keeps the dark theme, with yellow text, but moves the large graphic security status indicator from the main interface window up to the task-bar and system tray icons. The UI is impressively easy to use. It's still very fast light on resources, with an extremely good protection. Excellent program but.....

I have found the newer versions (2011-2012) of Norton Internet Security to be both highly effective at protecting my PC and absent of the cumbersome background programs that effected system performance. I am a fan and will continue to use it. The only change that is bad is that now when you add a new version it does not just add 365 days to whatever days you have remaining on your current protection so you just lose out on those days. That is not the way it has been in the past so wait until your current version is expiring to install the new code and activate it so you don't lose the last 50 days of your current protection like I did. 3/5 R. Much more reasonable through Amazon

I've always trusted and used Norton Internet Security programs on my computers. The last few years I just had Symantic load the new program automatically each year. But, this year when they told me my virus protection would be expiring in 30 days, and then informed me that they just wanted to let me know my credit card would automatically be charged the 59.99 to renew. I thought to myself that was awfully expensive especially being that this year had been hard on my family financially, so I started looking around. Lo and behold I found the same virus protection software through Amazon for less than half the price. Still the best

I have used Norton for years, in its various personas (anti-virus, Internet security, and 360). Generally I buy whatever is available for a good price on Black Friday. This year is was the Internet Security, but only for one computer. So I had to substitute the freebee, McAfee, on my second and third computers. I wish I had not. Should have just paid for the extra support. So for me, at least, Norton has always worked. I have never had a virus get through. The anti spam works, and my computers don't crash. McAfee, on the other hand, has not worked well and will be replaced. I highly recommend any Norton product, keeping in mind that smaller older computers should use the simplest product available (anti-virus), instead of the top product (360), so that the software doesn't make your computer lag much. 5/5 Victoria H. Great protection from Kaspersky as usual.

Installation & First Impression:*****************************Installation of KIS 2012 was quite speedy. At the beginning of the installation process the program looked for any conflicting security programs that were already installed and to my surprise, it actually found remnants of Microsoft Security Essentials that I had previously uninstalled. After this was cleared up, it was a simple case of activating the product online and viola!, I was up and running. Albeit needing a definition update.Once KIS was up and running I downloaded the latest update, which took quite a while, and then gave it a quick scan. As this is the first 2012 malware product I've looked at thus far, it is difficult to be objective as to how Kaspersky's latest will compare with others that are released in the latter part of the year, but my initial impression is quite positive. KIS 2012 is jam-packed full of all the features that you would expect to see in such a program and definitely... 5/5 Method2Madness "Alex" (Hampton Roads, VA) - See all my reviews, September 26, 2011

Super slow full scan takes the sparkle off an otherwise great product

I received Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 from the Amazon Vine Reviewer Program. Because I received the 3-license version I installed it on two PC's: desktop running Vista 32-bit and a desktop running Windows 7 64-bit.I had planned on also installing it on an XP desktop as this software gives you one code to license 3 machines for 1 year, however that is being old and fussy upon this writing and may need to die a natural death, thus I may have to install Kaspersky on yet another Win 7 machine instead. I will update this review after the third install.**Note that this software works with 32 and 64-bit Windows OS's Vista, XP and 7, but doesn't support Mac.**The Positives:Installation on both machines was easy, but much quicker on the Windows 7 machine. Probably more about the OS than this software. On both the Vista and Win 7 PC's the system moved quicker than with other antivirus' used before - Trend Micro on one and Kaspersky Pure on the... 3/5 Andrea L. Great AV Product

Antivirus can be a controversial subject. If you ask 20 different computer entusiasts or IT professionals what the best AV product is, you will not only get 20 different answers, but almost as many angry shouts about how horrible everybody else's picks were. Similarly, and only to make matters worse, if you do your research and read the "10 best antivirus products of 2011" articles then you will see that the rankings change all the time. Every year it seems some "who-the-heck-is-that" antivirus product makes it on to the number 1 or 2 spot for the major roundups. More frustrating is the fact that from site to site and review to review, the conclusions can be schizophrenic--with one site's number 1 pick being the other site's worst of the crop. From my own experience, I will tell you that no antivirus is a silver bullet, they all will catch some malware that others miss, and vice versa. Beware of fanboys and beware too of haters. But most of all, beware of anyone who gives you their... 5/5 Leo "Katphish" (Norwich, NY, United States) - See all my reviews, September 19, 2011

    Solid antivirus protection

I have this software installed on a desktop and a laptop with Windows XP. It's been running for a few days now and it is performing well. It was easy to configure and does what I expect from an anitvirus program. It updates automatically, scans files and email and monitors incoming web traffic for dangerous scripts. It doesn't slow down my system or nag me with pop-ups. Once it's configured it disappears into the background. To be clear, any program that's running in the background is going to use some memory. This software has a small footprint in comparison to others and no slow down was experienced.Prior to installation I removed the antivirus software I was currently running as recommended in the quick start instruction guide. After removal I put the Kaspersky DVD in the computer and it popped up a user friendly interface and I began the installation. The first thing I did after installation was complete was to click on the 'Update' button which downloaded... 4/5 Leslie (Midwestern USA) - See all my reviews, September 21, 2011

    Tech Support Scam

I have had Kaspersky Internet Security for two years. The program is great, but I encountered a problem with installation. When I tried to find the technical support number for the product, it was no where to be found on my invoice. I then went out on the internet to try and find technical support for Kaspersky product installation. However I encountered a bogus support line, that was trying to sell me additional products without helping me with my installation problem. If Kaspersky would put a tech support number on the internet invoice I received after purchasing the new 2012 edition of Internet Security, I would have been able to solve my problem without encountering a bogus site online. 3/5 Michael J. 4-star product, 1-star support, tricky and expensive upgrade

After running Norton 360 v4 for nearly a year across two Windows 7 PCs, I have been very satisfied with its performance and stability. I was looking forward to upgrading to v5, and extending my subscription.Functionally, Norton 360 v5 is very similar to v4 with a few additions:- improved SONAR protection (blocked 100% of virus/malware threats in Dennis Technology test)- updated Download Insight for even greater protection / scan of downloaded files- refined user interfaceFrom an effectiveness and performance perspective, I don't think you can get better than Norton 360 v5. It scans transparently in the background, with notification updates that show from the taskbar, without interrupting your work. Unlike other anti-virus software I'd used in the past, I didn't notice significant impact on my work when it's installed and running. When you download a file, the new Insight product will not only scan, but will let you know how many others have... 4/5 Paul Christensen "gadget geek" (West Chester, PA United States) - See all my reviews, March 26, 2011

    Simple, Speedy, and Stalwart Security

Norton 360 5.0 improves on version 4.0 by making it even faster, better looking, and taking up even less resources while retaining the same effectiveness. Installation is exceptionally fast and within a minute or two, Norton 360 is up and running. The interface could use some work, but overall, it is pretty nice. Important tasks are immediately in your face by hovering over four LARGE blocks. Scans are much faster than Microsoft Security Essentials, Panda, and McAfee. The add-ons are decent. Parental Controls are mediocre. It has a few nice tools that make online shopping easier and safer.Norton 360 contains many performance improvement tools such as Registry Cleanup, File Cleanup, and Disk Optimizer. Some are available by default in Windows though I have found Norton's to be more comprehensive and faster. Norton 360 is also very light on resources. It feels like it isn't even there! The only thing reminding you Norton is installed is the icon in the System Tray, which... 5/5 albertxp06 (California, USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Norton 360 5.0 1-User/3PCs [Old Version] (Software) Norton 360 5.0 improves on version 4.0 by making it even faster, better looking, and taking up even less resources while retaining the same effectiveness. Norton 360 ends computer problems forever.

Does Norton 360 live up to the hype? For me it does. I bought my first version of Norton 360 3 years ago. I had been using Zone Alarm, Zone Alarm is freeware and donations are accepted but not mandatory. Zone Alarm did not cut it for me. I kept getting emails from them about all these wonderful premium versions that I could buy. They pestered and pestered. With Zone Alarm it seems that it totally took over my computer. Also, my computer was getting slower and slower and no matter what solution I would try, eventually, my computer would slow down again very soon.About three years ago, a friend mentioned Norton 360 to me and I had recalled that a lot of techies did not care for Norton products and they had gotten a pretty bad rap from the tech community. I decided to give 360 a try. I visited one of my local electronics big box stores and picked up a CD ROM version of Norton 360. At the time I had a desktop from HP and a laptop from Toshiba. The CD ROM allows you to protect... 5/5 John J. Barlow "Hifijohnny" (Lansing, Michigan) - See all my reviews, April 4, 2011
