Solid Internet Security Suite Works Quite Well With Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit

I own a 3-year-old Dell XPS 410 with an Intel Core 2 6700 CPU @ 2.66GHz, equipped with a RAID 0 650 GB dual hard drive, 4 GB DDR2 RAM and an Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB "Direct X 10"-compatible graphics card; for the most part, I have been displeased with the performance of my computer ever since my initial purchase... and this disappointment extended to the performance of my chosen internet security suite, KIS 2007-2010.After several years of using the miserably sluggish, sporadically buggy Vista Ultimate 32-bit OS, I have recently upgraded my computer to Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit (all I can say is WHAT A DIFFERENCE... for those interested, upgrade ASAP). After a clean install, I reluctantly decided to reinstall KIS 2010 and see how well it would perform with my new OS. I wasn't too impressed with KIS 2010's overall performance when I ran it on Vista Ultimate 32-bit (although it was improved over KIS 2009), but running it on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit is another story... 4/5 Hugo D. Bloatware that should be avoided

I've used just about every security system in the world over the years and a year ago settled on Kaspersky 2009, which is easy to use, runs well, and does everything perfectly. Then, in September, it came time to renew my annual license. I paid my money, and, instead of just renewing me, Kaspersky sent me their new program, 2010. I installed it with no problem. The interface is more complicated but not *really* hard to figure out. After a while, however, I started noticing that there were various sites that I couldn't get to on the Internet (I use Chrome as my browser). Then I discovered that some programs, such as Eudora and Agent were taking longer and longer and longer to shut down when I clicked the X in the corner. And that almost *all* programs I opened or *all* websites that I went to were *much* slower in starting up than they had been before. I tried getting help for various issues at the online Forum where various people send in their problems and other... 2/5 Hayford Peirce (Tucson, AZ United States) - See all my reviews, November 7, 2009

Solid protection, and better than the big players

Count me as a convert. Aside from the fact that both Norton and McAfee are bloated and intrusive, Kaspersky has some really nice features. One thing that's a big win for me is how the protection coverage works. Buying this package gives you a license to run the software, and virus database updates for a year for 3 PCs. At the end of that year, the updates stop but the protection level you had when it expired continues as long as you like. With the others (esp. Norton and AVG), your protection stops after the license expires, which is of course a total ripoff that you don't find out until you're 'hooked'. Then your protection turns into 'nagware', bugging you every five minutes until you renew. Up until my switch, I always cursed them under my breath then coughed up money to them (bad). In this game, Kaspersky comes off as the good guys. You get standard virus coverage, along with some extras that should keep you safe against most malicious... 4/5 J. Great protection from Kaspersky as usual.

Installation & First Impression:*****************************Installation of KIS 2012 was quite speedy. At the beginning of the installation process the program looked for any conflicting security programs that were already installed and to my surprise, it actually found remnants of Microsoft Security Essentials that I had previously uninstalled. After this was cleared up, it was a simple case of activating the product online and viola!, I was up and running. Albeit needing a definition update.Once KIS was up and running I downloaded the latest update, which took quite a while, and then gave it a quick scan. As this is the first 2012 malware product I've looked at thus far, it is difficult to be objective as to how Kaspersky's latest will compare with others that are released in the latter part of the year, but my initial impression is quite positive. KIS 2012 is jam-packed full of all the features that you would expect to see in such a program and definitely... 5/5 Method2Madness "Alex" (Hampton Roads, VA) - See all my reviews, September 26, 2011

Super slow full scan takes the sparkle off an otherwise great product

I received Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 from the Amazon Vine Reviewer Program. Because I received the 3-license version I installed it on two PC's: desktop running Vista 32-bit and a desktop running Windows 7 64-bit.I had planned on also installing it on an XP desktop as this software gives you one code to license 3 machines for 1 year, however that is being old and fussy upon this writing and may need to die a natural death, thus I may have to install Kaspersky on yet another Win 7 machine instead. I will update this review after the third install.**Note that this software works with 32 and 64-bit Windows OS's Vista, XP and 7, but doesn't support Mac.**The Positives:Installation on both machines was easy, but much quicker on the Windows 7 machine. Probably more about the OS than this software. On both the Vista and Win 7 PC's the system moved quicker than with other antivirus' used before - Trend Micro on one and Kaspersky Pure on the... 3/5 Andrea L. Great Product But Too Many Problems

After using Norton for years and getting totally frustrated with their horrible service and an atrocious product called Norton 360 [early version], I switched to Kaspersky about 3 years ago. That was a smart move because Kaspersky has better customer service and a SUPERIOR product. Let me start by saying Kaspersky is the best consumer product for protection of your computer, however, they have significant problems every time they upgrade to a new version. Even worse, management refuses to communicate with their customers about those problems. One of the pluses of buying this product is the following. If a new version comes out during your one year cycle, you can upgrade to the new product for FREE. The downside, with both the 2010 and 2011 upgrades, many customers [not all] had major problems. With the 2010 upgrade, I was one of many whose system slowed to a crawl for weeks until they finally fixed the problem. Management failed to send out an email advising customers there... 3/5 R. Whether you own a powerful desktop or a modest mini-laptop, KIS 2011 is a worthy purchase for users of Windows 7 64-bit

*(PLEASE NOTE: This review is geared towards Windows 7 64-bit users with a fairly recent computer build, e.g. any dual core processor PC built over the past four years or less. The best security package I have ever used.

Kaspersky replaced McAfee on my computer, low resource utilization and no problems. Easy installation. Not only can I use my computer at any time, I can also print on my wireless connected printer. McAfee decided that since I did not have their product installed on the "computer" on my home network I could not use it. To print I had to disable the firewall. Kaspersky correctly identifies the device as a printer and have no problems using all of the features of my all-in-one.The installation was flawless and fast, even though there was a new version available and the download was large.Full system scan runs very quietly on the background and I don't even notice it is doing anything, I had to open the window to see if it was still doing it or it was completed. It also ran in half the time of what McAfee used to take, and you do notice McAfee when it is running.Another advantage is that it has not used up another license because I am running... 5/5 Gustavo Orellana - See all my reviews, September 20, 2010

    Bitdefender Internet Security works, but...

I looked forward to trying as it was a product that seemed to have a number of decent features. But let's get right to the point: there are better products on the market today worth considering. And with such products as the latest AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition, to name one, it's hard to recommend this one from Bitdefender, unless you're new to computing and just want an easy-to-install product.I initially installed this product on two computers, an HP Presario notebook running Windows Vista, and on a Sony VAIO running Windows XP Professional. Both computers had all available software updates and Service Packs installed. There were no problems with the installation on either computer other than a number of mildly annoying little pop-ups and reboots, but if you've installed security and anti-virus... 4/5 John Williamson "JargonTalk" (Bucks County, PA USA) - See all my reviews, November 19, 2009

Yes, this is very tempting to purchase because of the price - I did. But, I curse my cheap gene to this day for buying this mistake. Here are my 2 reasons:1) I had a problem with this product and customer service stopped responding my my emails. They responded only after I got the BBB involved.2) One of their latest patches made it appear like win 7 64-bit computers were infected with a major trojan (see their web site for details). I did not know what was going on I even re-installed windows just in case only to find out a week later that it was Bitdefender's fault.doner really hates this product and will do a happy dance when this company goes under. DO NOT BUY THIS!!!!!

I had used Bitdefender Antivirus 2008 and 2009, and despite some unsolved problems, they were never serious. So when it came time to renew, I thought I should upgrade to the more powerful Bitdefender Internet Security 2010 (IS2010). It was a big mistake!!!After installing IS2010 on my Windows Vista notebook:1. the parental control software (ComputerTime) would not work properly, even though this software served me wonderfully for over 4 years2. my wife and daughters had difficulties logging into their Windows account - their screen will remain blank and nothing can be done unless the machine is rebooted, and I have to let them use my account3. the IS2010 services would keep dying unexpectedly and I would have to reboot my machine. This happened daily and for today alone, it happened 3 times in 2 hours!Of course, you may be wondering if all these problems were really due to IS2010. I wondered, too, and between contacting... 1/5 Luke Kwong "Luke" (Singapore) - See all my reviews, September 12, 2009

    Stay AWAY

I've used Kaspersky religiously for several years now and 2010 is a major blunder. I like a lot of features it has over others and the past versions worked well. When I upgraded to 2010 I started having performance problems, locked up computer, BSOD and the like. When I finally realized it was Kaspersky 2010, I removed it and all was well again on those machines.I had one laptop left that had 292 days left and seemed to be ok so I left it. Big mistake. Yesterday Windows would not boot at all, said SYSTEM file was corrupted or missing. After 2 hours of restore, the only files corrupted were 2 Windows files and the Kaspersky folder, so it caused my hard drive corruption.I do NOT recommend this for anybody on any platform. Seems the best Kaspersky choice this year

I've a happy user of Kaspersky products for several years and most recently I've been very satisfied with Kaspersky Internet Security (KIS) 2009. When I received my renewal notice I checked on line and sure enough, I could purchase the current product Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 3-User for less than it would cost me to renew. However, I was a bit put off and somewhat surprised by some of the negative reviews. Also, from the "Features Matrix" on the KIS 2010 page I saw that it didn't offer much that I could use over their anti-virus product. Selecting Kaspersky Anti-Virus (KAV) also saved me a few dollars. :)KAV installed without a hitch. It took less than 10 minutes, including a reboot, to install KAV from CD and another couple minutes for the automatic virus database update. It has worked flawlessly (and transparently) ever since. This is what I have come to expect from Kaspersky. My suggestion is that you review the features of the two 2010... 5/5 Bob Tobias "Robert Tobias" (Arlington, VA USA) - See all my reviews, October 12, 2009

    Beware buying this from amazon

I loved Kaspersky Internet Security 2009. It was the best IS software I have owned. Their upgrade cost was pricey so I bought it through amazon.com, one of their market sellers.I bought the 3 user license and installed it on my 3 computers. No problem at first. Then, one by one, they each had protection suspended for a "license violation". I chatted with Kaspersky tech support and they instructed me how to reactivate the license. This worked, but each computer continues to be kicked off at intermittent times and left my computers unprotected.I sent an email support request to Kaspersky and they sent me some boilerplate answer that suggested, among other things, that the software was sold by a spammer who had distributed the same license number to other users. I said I had bought it from a legitimate seller, that is, amazon.com and if someone else is trying to usurp my license number they should block them instead of me. PC users with ten-year-old Pentium 4/XP computing rigs should look elsewhere for advice; if possible, they should also consider upgrading and/or replacing their aging hardware and OS, as the cost/value ratio in the PC market has never, ever been better... even when one takes into consideration these hard economic times.)As was the case last year, after taking a month-long test run with the latest internet security suites (Avast, Norton, McAfee), I have come away very impressed with Kaspersky Internet Security. I own a 4-year-old Dell XPS 410 with an Intel Core 2 6700 CPU @ 2.66GHz, equipped with a "RAID 0" 2 TB dual hard drive, 8 GB DDR2 RAM and an Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS 640 MB "Direct X 10"-compatible graphics card. The activation code was for the wrong product!

I ordered this with Amazon Prime Thursday evening and it arrived Saturday eveningas promised. This was Saturday before Labor Day. As I installed the product,it asked for activation code. When I entered the code, it immediately switchedme over to the Kaspersky 2011 ANTI-VIRUS software! Since Kaspersky was closedfor the holiday weekend, there was nothing I could do until Tuesday. When Iturned on computer Tuesday, I had a message stating the license had been blocked. When I went to Kaspersky's website, there was a message on how to fix this licenseissue. It seems a lot of people must have had a problem. Then it was time forme to do a live chat to find out about the activation code. I waited about 45 minutes for a live chat operator. He told me some of the Internet Securitywent out with an incorrect activation code. I was on live chat for about 40minutes as he tried to get me an activation code. Eventually, he told... 3/5 luckybucky15 - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Great Product But Hassle To Activate

I have used Kaspersky Internet Security Suite for my overall internet security for a number of years now. It is a very good product. However, the only issue I've encountered is the activation process. I encountered the same issue as Catlovertwo. Several times when I've renewed my subscription... whether by download or retail box(disk)the activation code provided with the product is always invalid, which means contacting customer service and having to scan and email copies of the disk, box,UPC,receipt... etc to prove ownership in order to get the correct activation code... it's a big inconvenience and hassle. 4/5 A NC Tarheel (North Carolina) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Best option out there

First of all anti-virus software always slows your computer down. I don't know why people write reviews commenting out that. What is important is how much does this software slow you computer down in comparison to Norton or symantec or whatever you are using. I have found this program superior in all respects of performance it does not slow you computer down as much as other anti-virus software and in my opinion the updates are faster and the protection better than Norton with out a bunch of stuff you don't want/need. The only thing is you have to buy the program from amazon every year. The renew activation codes you download through the Kaspersky website seem to not work too well. Bottom line this is best anti-virus program. 5/5 Mike W. "Mike" (Washington DC) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Better than Norton

I have used Norton's products for a long time and been fairly happy with them. However, Kaspersky has always been an interesting product for me since it it said to use less system resources and be less intrusive in my day to day work.I have used Kaspersky now for several months and have to say that I really like it, even better than Norton.Pros:- Lets my system run smoother- Less intrusive. It just works without telling me everything it does.- Easy to install and configure (on Windows Vista)- Good level of protection (always hard to tell, but I got a probable virus using Norton that ruined my printing abilities. I haven't gotten it using Kaspersky...though it's also dependent on other issues, of course.)Cons:- none so far. Get yours! 4/5 Dare to love (Alingsås, Sweden) - See all my reviews, March 2, 2011

The geek's choice for anti virus - but consider a product with more features

Kaspersky has long been the anti-virus program favored by computer geeks, and for good reason. It's highly effective, and has a less heavy-handed and less resource-intensive approach than many of the alternatives. But stand-alone anti-virus programs are of somewhat limited use beyond the computer expert community, whose users want to have the best performance for each feature (such as a separate, configurable firewall) and tweak their other settings. And on the other end of the spectrum, budget conscious users can probably manage well enough with free anti-virus programs, the Windows firewall, and some care in where they browse and how their computers are set. Most users would do best to buy a more full featured program that provides an enhanced firewall, spam protection, malware protection while browsing, and perhaps parental controls. For many users, something like the... 4/5 Snap, Crackle and Pop (United States) - See all my reviews, February 16, 2011
