    If I could give a product negative stars, this would be one.

    I spent sometime online looking up reviews on this product before I purchased it. From all the reviews I read, all gave this product 4 or 5 stars. Very highly rated, and lots of good words to say about it. It offered all and more that my previous anti-virus company had, and it was about 15 dollars cheaper. So I thought that I would give it a try.I purchased what on the box said BitDefender Internet Security 2011. The instructions said 2011 on it, so did the installation disc. So I loaded it onto my wife's computer, only to find that the registration key was invalid. When I contacted the company I was told to uninstall it and return the product to the store. So that is what I did. Upon getting home with the new copy, I reinstalled it, only to find that the registration key was still invalid. I contacted the company again, and was told to uninstall and return it.     BitDefender was on my system before as a gift. Works quite well as a scanning system in the background. Notifications are small but insistent (such as now), downloads of upgrades and patches are quick and easy.For an old semi-techie such as myself the less complicated, the better.     BUGWARE

    I downloaded and installed this program (2011 version) and found a free upgrade to Bitdefender Internet security 2012. Installation was ok, but I found that the streaming quotes (a java app) at my stockbroker do not work with this installed. I found no phone support, then filled in their help request and chatted a bit. The tech wrote it was a known issue he would have to give it to senior techs, and I would have a fix within 24 to 48 hours. That ship has sailed, and no reply. I tried them again this morning and couldn't get a chat. I uninstalled the Bitdefender 5 minutes ago. My quotes now stream. It was 18 or 19 dollars, but the lack of streaming quotes cost a lot more. If you have a problem with this, you might as well be on your own. I question the glowing reviews.     Bitdefender Internet Security works, but...

    I looked forward to trying as it was a product that seemed to have a number of decent features. But let's get right to the point: there are better products on the market today worth considering. And with such products as the latest AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition, to name one, it's hard to recommend this one from Bitdefender, unless you're new to computing and just want an easy-to-install product.I initially installed this product on two computers, an HP Presario notebook running Windows Vista, and on a Sony VAIO running Windows XP Professional. Both computers had all available software updates and Service Packs installed.     CHEAP! - For a Good Reason

    Yes, this is very tempting to purchase because of the price - I did. But, I curse my cheap gene to this day for buying this mistake. Here are my 2 reasons:1) I had a problem with this product and customer service stopped responding my my emails. They responded only after I got the BBB involved.2) One of their latest patches made it appear like win 7 64-bit computers were infected with a major trojan (see their web site for details). It happened to my wife's computer. I did not know what was going on I even re-installed windows just in case only to find out a week later that it was Bitdefender's fault.doner really hates this product and will do a happy dance when this company goes under.     DO NOT BUY THIS!!!!!

    I had used Bitdefender Antivirus 2008 and 2009, and despite some unsolved problems, they were never serious. So when it came time to renew, I thought I should upgrade to the more powerful Bitdefender Internet Security 2010 (IS2010). It was a big mistake!!!After installing IS2010 on my Windows Vista notebook:1. the parental control software (ComputerTime) would not work properly, even though this software served me wonderfully for over 4 years2. my wife and daughters had difficulties logging into their Windows account - their screen will remain blank and nothing can be done unless the machine is rebooted, and I have to let them use my account3. the IS2010 services would keep dying unexpectedly and I would have to reboot my machine. This happened daily and for today alone, it happened 3 times in 2 hours!Of course, you may be wondering if all these problems were really due to IS2010.     Fast scan

    I downloaded MyAntiVirus Pro to my Kindle Fire. I thought it might run in the background, but I need to click on it and tell it to scan. I can't ask it to scan just one app, it has to scan them all. The good thing is the scan is fast, whether I choose the quick scan or the full scan. There is an update feature, but it is not automatic. It needs to be selected manually.The most niggly thing about it is hitting "exit" does not exit the app. I need to hit the "home" icon to get out, but that's not exactly hard to do. It's not a bad antivirus scanner, and I'm happy for the speed._______________________UPDATE: I just want to make a correction to my review. I wrote the above review after running it for about a day. After using it a few days, it has become apparent that this little app does run in the background. After every app download, the antivirus app tells me there are no viruses.     Had to contact support within 12 hours of installation...and again after that.

    So here's the deal. I've been using computers since the TI-994a (actually had one called a Timex Sinclair before that)and have been "online" since the Prodigy days and 300 baud modems. So I've been around the block when it comes to computers, internet and security software. I know how to install, uninstall and tweak my way through most issues without having to contact support...until this security suite.I was previously using Norton 2011 and when this came up on Vine, I'm always looking to try new security suites. I fully removed Norton and during the BitDefender installation, it confirmed that no other security software is installed that would conflict with it (nice feature).I'm running a Windows 7 64bit Toshiba laptop with 3 GB memory and pentium processor so this shouldn't be a problem I thought. The installation went fine and I did a full system scan (took upwards of 6 hours), the product updated, requested a reboot and I thought we were off... 3/5 D.     Back when I tried my first BitDefender product, the 2009 version of this same package, I was mostly concerned with the scanner not bothering me just for the sake of telling me its working, and that it would use minimal system resources. BitDefender 2009 did the job, and I'm pleased to say that BitDefender 2011 is up to par with it! (The 2010 version I personally didn't like; the interface changed a lot and it complained about things I didn't care about. In 2011, you can tell it what things that you care about...best of both worlds.)As much as I like this product, here are a few negatives:1. Installing the product on machine #1 (you get 3 licenses so you can install this package on up to 3 separate machines)... everything went well, BUT it downloaded something like 60 megs worth of "updates" immediately after installing. Virus pattern definitions generally aren't that large, so I'm not sure what the heck it was downloading.     Overzealous: Bit Defender 2011 found the worms but it also had false positives

    Bit-Defender 2011 came in handy since my subscription to Norton 360 3.0 had expired on two of my computers (I have eight at home, five at work). In addition to Bit Defender I currently use the following anti-virus software ESET NOD32 4.0, Trend Micro Internet Security (2010), Trend Micro Plus, Trend Micro Office Scan, and I also have recent experience with McAfee, WebRoot, AVG, and Symantec Norton Anti-Virus. The installation went smoothly. However, they required you to register and activate using the same key and asked you to create an account, which is unusual. The first full scan took a long time and it failed. However, subsequent updates and scans were successful.The user interface is nice looking but a little bit non-traditional and somewhat confusing and so is their web site. However, they offer 24/7 support and an easy way for turning the so called game mode on/off. In game mode Bit Defender will not use as much resources.     Worst experience ever

    I had heard great things about bitdefender from my parents, who have it on their computer and have had no major issues with it, so I decided to give it a try. This was the worst decision I've ever made when it comes to anti virus software. I have had Norton, Mcafee, PC Security Shield, and Kaspersky. All of which have been pretty friendly to my pc. Bitdefender was not so kind.I started off by trying to install it onto my computer (run on Windows xp-32 bit). Once it scanned and I got things going it suggested that I remove all my other antivirus software, ok. I proceeded to hit next to allow it to remove the software for me and all of the sudden error messages began popping up. It kept saying things like bitdefender has encountered an error and must close, you must restart your computer. I restarted only to come to a blue error screen saying my computer has shut down to prevent further damage. I restarted and hit f8 to run in safe mode, did a system restore, and tried again.     Bought into false review and lost

    My Norton's was about to expire and I did a quick internet search for better antivirus software. I came across a review from a reputable PC magazine site where among some 20 softwares, this was rated as number 1. Unfortunately I bought into it. I removed my Norton completely and installed this, bitdefender. I immediately noticed a performance decrease of my PC in everything. I did a little bit research and found that bitdefernder is notorious for slowing computers. I removed the bitdefender and bought the Norton 2011 version. Now my PC is running good. Stay away from this software. It will slow down your system tremendously.     Do your research carefully...

    This product is not accurately represented by the manufacturer. It is nearly impossible to contact their 24/7 customer support. You CANNOT contact support through the process of loading software. There is no telephone number listed any where in their loading process or site-map nor is there a way to engage in a 'chat' because when the software doesn't load properly you don't have that option. One must get online (without antivirus protection) to attempt to locate contact information and once you finally find the number through a separate website and call, you will be put on terminal 'hold'. Upon loading the software my compter immediately locked up. The CD could not be removed. Afer several reboots I was able to finally remove the CD.     2012 is a very BAD miss . . .

    I have BIS 2011, and despite a few quirks, I like the program and the value for 3 PCs for 2 years. I like that I can upgrade to BIS 2012 for free using my existing license. I was quite happy with BIS 2011, but I figured I'd upgrade to 2012. That was the start of my mistakes. After uninstalling 2011 using the Bitdefender uninstall tool, the upgrade to 2012 seemed fairly speedy. However, after rebooting the PC, I was hit by pop-ups I'd never seen, and due to a completely and radically redesigned interface, I had some issues making adjustments to the controls. OK, I'm a tech geek, and I can adapt to new control locations, so not a big deal.Then I ran into the big deal: A nearly complete and utter slow down of my internet. Whether I used IE or Firefox, the browser would just sit and act like it was loading.     Almost Perfect

    I am doing computer repair repair business in Norfolk VA (...) I have been trying almost all virus protection softwares on market for several years.I used Bitdefender brand for several years with very little problems. I can tell the last version of Bitdefender is the excellent one comparing old versions and others on market. Installation is very easy and it has auto pilot mode which means you don't need professional help for setup and installation.I am really much happier using latest Bitdefender product with no problem.     Computer Too Fast?

    If you cannot keep up with your computer, install a Bitdefender product. I guarantee you that it will slow your computer to a crawl. 2012 and 2011 products work equally well to make certain that you have plenty of extra time to get coffee, take phone calls, visit the restroom or to do other important work during boot-up and shutdown, while surfing the internet, when opening a program, or as you try to perform other, once too fast, computer tasks.Seriously, before you buy a Bitdefender product, go to the Bitdefender forum site and see what real users have been complaining to the software maker about since 2010.     Worst experience ever

    I had heard great things about bitdefender from my parents, who have it on their computer and have had no major issues with it, so I decided to give it a try. This was the worst decision I've ever made when it comes to anti virus software. I have had Norton, Mcafee, PC Security Shield, and Kaspersky. All of which have been pretty friendly to my pc. Bitdefender was not so kind.I started off by trying to install it onto my computer (run on Windows xp-32 bit). Once it scanned and I got things going it suggested that I remove all my other antivirus software, ok. I proceeded to hit next to allow it to remove the software for me and all of the sudden error messages began popping up. It kept saying things like bitdefender has encountered an error and must close, you must restart your computer. I restarted only to come to a blue error screen saying my computer has shut down to prevent further damage. I restarted and hit f8 to run in safe mode, did a system restore, and tried again.     Bought into false review and lost

    My Norton's was about to expire and I did a quick internet search for better antivirus software. I came across a review from a reputable PC magazine site where among some 20 softwares, this was rated as number 1. Unfortunately I bought into it. I removed my Norton completely and installed this, bitdefender. I immediately noticed a performance decrease of my PC in everything. I did a little bit research and found that bitdefernder is notorious for slowing computers. I removed the bitdefender and bought the Norton 2011 version. Now my PC is running good. Stay away from this software. It will slow down your system tremendously.     Do your research carefully...

    This product is not accurately represented by the manufacturer. It is nearly impossible to contact their 24/7 customer support. You CANNOT contact support through the process of loading software. There is no telephone number listed any where in their loading process or site-map nor is there a way to engage in a 'chat' because when the software doesn't load properly you don't have that option. One must get online (without antivirus protection) to attempt to locate contact information and once you finally find the number through a separate website and call, you will be put on terminal 'hold'. Upon loading the software my compter immediately locked up. The CD could not be removed. Afer several reboots I was able to finally remove the CD.     A good security suite from Bitdefender

    To the previous reviewers who had problems, and for any future customers, here's a simple installation tip.     Used to be so good

    Ive been using bitdefender software since 2004, and it used to be fast, accurate, easy to use, and reliable. This latest version, however, is a total departure from that. No longer simple, it now has a bloated interface which is not intuitive (even on the novice setting), it also slowed down my computer, and I have experienced several blue screens since installing this version. The worst part though is the many false positives - blocking harmless websites (like amazon) when parental controls were not even on. There seems to be no solution for this.
