  I do a lot of banking online, and shopping, and sociaizing. I regularly download music, stream videos, and send/recieve emails with friends and companies. Ive been using a free version of but you get what you...in this case....dont pay for. It didnt protect me the way I needed to be protected.I needed software that scanned as I was surfing the web, anticipating the pages I was going to, finding the nasties before I clicked and was burned. I wanted a good identity protection, because after everything is said and done THAT is what I was most worried about doing my banking online.   Crash crash crash

  I've used avg, both free and paid, for years. While it has given me some problems time to time, I've been fairly satisfied. In the last month, I've had 2 total system crashes, which I've traced to avg updates. After contacting tech support at my computer manufacturer, microsoft, and finally AVG, I was unable to restore my system in any manner except to re install Windows 7. (yes, I tried creating an "avg rescue disk", it did nothing. And this was not the free version! If you decide to buy this product, make sure they've settled their problems. 1/5 O.   I'm a huge fan of AVG's free version of this security software. I was so happy that I decided to go for the upgrade and get all the benefits that the free version does not offer. I was pleasantly surprised at all the great features and I'm very happy with the results!So why choose the paid version over the free one? The enhanced security features with real time protection tops the list. Another plus is the online shield for more secure shopping and banking transactions. I love the added protection provided for your network as well as the newer "Cloud" technology.   AVG now comes with additional crap

  What ever happened to AVG being the best free anti virus you could get, while at the same time it was honest? I found even when I went to download it they try to trick you into installing their own Download Manager, something not needed by anybody to download it, then it wanted to install the AVG task bar, which I was not falling for, so make sure when you install these things you read what you are about to install, and what it tries to install during installation.Now I found my PC freezes for a few seconds as AVG is running, even as I type this, it is sluggish, and can't keep up.   I have used AVG anti-virus programs for several years. First their free version, then their paid program. I just purchased a new computer and purchased and installed AVG Internet 2011. Then the problems started. First, an automatic update crashed my comuter (mine and countless thousands of other AVG customers), forcing me to do a restore to before I installed AVG. I should have quit then, but I reinstalled the anti-virus program assuming the defective update had been corrected. My problems have continued. AVG has significantly slowed down the computer, and has caused countless problems with MS Outlook 2010 - which Microsoft advised was an incompatibility issue with the AVG program. During a scan, my computer moves at a snail's pace. They block so much I spend conciderable time getting access to things I want.   Stay away from AVG 2011

  No phone support available, only on line FAQ's. You have to pay $50 to speak to a live technician. There are so many glitches with upgrading from AVG 9. spent hours with no resolution!!!! I would never consider buying software that did not automatically stand behind their product with free support.   I am still undecided if this is an improvement over other AVG products. I am unable to see videos in YouTube, because AVG has an accelerator mode that is not compatible with YouTube. Also, I am not sure if my computer is slower now than before.On the plus side, it really seems to block everything that threats my computer. The Interface is still easy and fast to use.   I've used AVG products for a few years now and recently bought it directly from there site (cheaper here at Amazon) anyway its one of the best anti-virus softwares out there. It has stopped every trojan, virus, keylogger and such that I've come in contact with.Although its a little heavy on system resources I didn't dock it a star for that, I've docked it a star for the new interface. I like the old one much better. Yeah I know it doesn't effect the software anyway if you need a good security system for your computer this would be a good choice for you.   My daughter managed to download a virus on her computer while having McAfee anti-virus protection installed. I had to take it to a computer repair shop to remove it. Of course that was expensive. The repair shop advised me to switch to even the free version of AVG anti-virus protection. They told me they find it more effective than other more popular programs. I installed the free version on all our computers. I haven't had any problems since. However, when I had the chance to upgrade to the 2011 protection that includes social networking, I was excited being that teens are on facebook so much.   Improvement over the Free version, but not without flaws

  I have been a Free version user of AVG software since about version 2, but I have started getting tired of the product. With version 9 (or even 8 but not sure), AVG started an ad-ware campaign for the Free users. They have always tried to up-sell, which makes sense since they are a business, but when it was embedded in the management screen and in pop-ups, it became more intrusive.I figured that I would try the paid version to remove some of the annoyances. As others had mentioned, but I hadn't read yet, I received the "Installation Canceled Due to Higher Version Installed". I figured there would be a check for previous versions, but I expected a Paid version would always be a higher version than a Free version. I was wrong. I uninstalled the Free version and loaded the Paid version and the install went smoothly after that.At this point, the Paid version didn't seem much different than the Free one.   Someone at AVG had the clever idea to make a proxy service which compresses streaming flash videos to make them load faster.I have never had a problem streaming video. Until now. I even had the previous version of AVG which, though it was a resource hog, did not mess up video streaming. But with AVG's video compressor, which has NOTHING TO DO WITH ANTIVIRUS SOFTWARE, tube videos now skip and get locked up.So I find the option to turn off this "feature" (tip: it is hidden on the "link scanner" menu for some reason). Problem solved, right? All you have to do is turn off the feature you don't want, right?Not really. Even though the compressor is turned off, tube videos still do not play right, with the exact same problems. The only way to make videos play well is to turn off AVG (under advanced options). And then, finally...It still doesn't work.   poor support

  I have been a satisfied user of AVG Internet Security for several years. However, not long after installing the 2012 version on my Windows 7 computer I had a problem that prevented it from running. (It continued to run fine on my wife's Windows XP system.) After more than three weeks of calls to AVG support (I won't recount the entire history here), including two unfulfilled promises that my inquiry had been "escalated" and someone would contact me within 24 to 48 hours, I finally asked for a refund and have removed AVG Internet Security from my machine. I've installed Norton Internet Security and it is running without problems.   Invalid license key

  Got the AVG internet Security 2012 + PC Tune Up, which are on 2 separate disc's, the PC Tune Up disc installed fine with the provided License key, however the Internet Security disc did not have a valid License key, affixed instead was another license key for PC Tune Up, and to get the product to install I had to contact AVG to get a proper license key.   This is a fantastic deal. I downloaded it with ease on both vista home premium over the trial version and xp homeover the avg free version. AVG does override your windows firewall and windows defender. In Vista I had to disable MS firewall and Defender upon prompting, giving you a choice of the firewall you want to use. In XP thee were less user choices presented during installation.Three pieces x 2 years for avg internet security for under $35.? How is this getting a bad review at all? AVG trumps Norton, Mc Afee and K's suites and doesnt slow the machine down like they do. Less than 12 a machine for 2 years protection from a quality program.   Strange company to deal with

  I have been using AVG for 2 or 3 years. I had it on one computer, then I got it for a 2nd computer, and finally for a third computer. When it was time to renew, they put a big "pop up" on my screen saying LICENSE EXPIRED, RENEW NOW. But when I tried, they kept saying this license is invalid or has already been upgraded. So I had to go to the online chat. They found a different license # for me, and that let me get to the upgrade site, but they wanted me to buy a license for 3 computers. I only want one. Another trip to the online chat with Customer Service. "I'll have someone email you a price," they said. After 2 tries I got an email that said you're offered a chance to renew "offline" -- what? am I supposed to send my credit card in an email? The whole thing is clunky and suspicious. Can't they even protect their own website? Why the need to have such a round-about renewal process?   AVG continues to stand out as a great Internet Security package, extremely user-friendly and price conscious. This year a few have surpassed it in standardized efficacy tests, but not by much. For the price, this is my recommendation for friends who don't want to manage multiple free products and don't have a fortune to spend on AV products. It's a great bang for the buck.The download however, works OK for most but could certainly be better. I bought this for my mother-in-law whose primary computer still runs Windows 2000 Pro. THE AMAZON DOWNLOAD SYSTEM WILL ONLY WORK IN WINDOWS XP & NEWER! Running it in XP, it seems to work fine, though it requires a download and installation of their program before the purchased download can begin. It's clunky but effective, and the only reason I marked this product down to 4-stars (it is after all a download-only version).   I had AVG in the past but used Kasperski for 2 years. I was so fed up with Kasperski so I purchased this AVG. It is "quiet" meaning it is there protecting but won't bother you and it runs smooth and silently.There is a gaming mode for those gamers out there as well.   AVG - Best choice for a Anti-Virus

  I've used Norton & McAfee more times than I can count and I have uninstalled them more times than I can count. A few years ago I found AVG's free edition and had used that. About 2 years ago I decided to try the paid edition and I have kept with the paid edition since then. I have 6 computers at home so having a multi-licensed product is absolutely fantastic! If you missed it, this product covers 3 computers. The paid edition has a lot more "bells and whistles" for protection that it only makes sense to get it. I truly enjoy the extra protection that comes with the paid edition.Pros: This software doesn't bog down your computer. For me, this is the most important. In my experience Norton and McAfee are resource hogs and have slowed down my computer quite a bit. With AVG I don't have the same issue. It does stop threats. I am pretty cautious, but still things sneak in. I haven't had a virus infect my computer since I have been using AVG.   Internet security software

  so far this is an excellent product. previously I had installed nortons 360 and system mechanic and one or both of thosekept crashing, and so I had had to reload both............these are now in the garbage.Nortons somehow never gets it right. you have to use a separete program to "totally" uninstall, rather than having one inside thesoftware.
