  Good Program - Good Buy!

  We've used AVG for a few years now with great success. Prior to that, we had an attack using another program (no names mentioned). I was in the middle of putting together a newsletter and had not backed up the most recent version. The prior backup was three days earlier. I lost most of what I had done, and my husband had to perform extensive repair on the computer to get back what we had a week earlier. Never again! AVG has performed for us without fail.   Used a license copy on a new desktop system box which failed, and which has been recently repaired at the mfgr and soon to return to me. Probably got a formatted hard drive in the process, so having an extra license on 3-license deal is excellent.   Wouldn't install, now stuck in my app list

  This app failed to install, and now it is stuck in my app list to be installed, whenever I get another app, this one there saying it is waiting for install. I do not see a way to remove this from my list yet. I would assume if I could install it, I could then uninstall it, but it won't. And it's really annoying me that I see it everytime and that it bugs me saying I have 1 app to install all the time. It doesn't block uploads to my website as the other anti virus protection I had before this. I thought the price was fair.   Worked well until I uninstalled now my computer is running very slow

  I tried the free download. It seemed to work well. Trial period ran out and I thought, ok, it seems good but I will see what else there is and try that - you know, proper shopper- if it was better than I would buy it.HOWEVER, after the uninstall my computer is running very slow.   I bought AVG Anti-virus 2011 in June 2011 and installed in July. Guess how surprised I was when a "license is expiring in 26 days" message popped up in January 2012. Around 6 months usage for a fullm priced license. What a rip off.   AVG's Customer Service is simply awful

  My AVG antivirus software recently detected three Trojan horses on my hard disk, which caused havoc with my business and computer.However, the program was unable to remove these viruses. Now, I know AVG's software is not infallible, and I was glad that it had at least detected the viruses (which other known products could not).After much difficulty, I managed to send AVG Customer Service an email explaining my problem, and I received a prompt receipt confirmation, case number and this promise: "Customer service is our top priority and we will respond to your request as soon as possible."   Stay Away!

  Well I used free AVG in the past and had good luck with it. So I thought I'd try the retail version for greater protection. So I tried AVG 2012 on disk being that I seem to get a lot of email virus attempts. After installing it I noticed I started having trouble with various automatic updates then manual updates to software programs. Then complete lockups and requiring a shut down and restart to get back operating. I felt AVG had to be the problem. So I tried deleting it through the Add Remove tab in Control Panel. To my surprise I could not delete it without downloading a special program. I finally got rid of it and now no more problems. Hummmm. I did some talking to some computer geeks who said they no longer use AVG because of problems experienced like mine. So my advice to all is stay away from this one.   It's been proven by trusted Android developers that this app is not REAL antivirus, it is nothing but a blacklist based on app package names, you can rename the package of any legit app to that of a known bad app and this AV flags it as a virus, rename a bad app to a known good app and the bad app gets right through.   My daughter managed to download a virus on her computer while having McAfee anti-virus protection installed. I had to take it to a computer repair shop to remove it. Of course that was expensive. The repair shop advised me to switch to even the free version of AVG anti-virus protection. They told me they find it more effective than other more popular programs. I installed the free version on all our computers. I haven't had any problems since. However, when I had the chance to upgrade to the 2011 protection that includes social networking, I was excited being that teens are on facebook so much.   Improvement over the Free version, but not without flaws

  I have been a Free version user of AVG software since about version 2, but I have started getting tired of the product. With version 9 (or even 8 but not sure), AVG started an ad-ware campaign for the Free users. They have always tried to up-sell, which makes sense since they are a business, but when it was embedded in the management screen and in pop-ups, it became more intrusive.I figured that I would try the paid version to remove some of the annoyances. As others had mentioned, but I hadn't read yet, I received the "Installation Canceled Due to Higher Version Installed". I figured there would be a check for previous versions, but I expected a Paid version would always be a higher version than a Free version. I was wrong. I uninstalled the Free version and loaded the Paid version and the install went smoothly after that.At this point, the Paid version didn't seem much different than the Free one.   Installed, Internet stopped working, uninstalled, Internet started working

  I was concerned before buying because I saw low reviews of the AVG 2012 products but since I had been happy with AVG for several years I decided to go ahead and buy. However, you can now count me as one of those dissatisfied AVG customers.My problem was that after I upgraded to AVG Anti-Virus 2012 my Internet access would stop working after 10 - 20 minutes. I had to restart my computer to get it working but after a few minutes it would stop working again (e-mail, web browsing, FTP, everything). After I uninstalled AVG - which I had to use AVG's special remover tool for because standard uninstall didn't complete - my Internet access would work indefinitely, as it should. It's clear that something about this version of AVG was the culprit.Now I am trying the Kaspersky 2012 trial. I haven't used it long enough to know if I'll end up buying, but I do know that my Internet access works fine.   I have been using Webroot on my phone for sometime and have been pleased with its performance. I especially like the way it alerts about potentially dangerous web sites.My only complaint is the age of the release available on Amazon Appstore. My phone is running 2.2.1.1046 from the Android Market while my Fire is running 1.8.15.640 from the Appstore.
