  Less cluttered interface and fairly faster than 2011

  Norton woke-up in 2009/10 making the interface user-friendly and its signature updates running in the background making the software less resource-hogging. It's continuing the same trend this year (NIS2012) with a little less cluttered interface - meaning most features automated for the novice user, but you have to dig in deep to make advanced changes. It works well with Windows7 as well as Win XP if you care (I don't have Vista - so cannot comment about that).1. Installation: As in the recent versions of NIS, installation was a snap. It took under 2 minutes, but needed a restart. If you have existing license for NIS, download the update from support -> check for new version menu item from within NIS. You can update the license number from the disk later when your license is about to expire. In previous version(s), NIS overwrote existing license period if you upgraded from disk.   NIS 2011 Was Better

  I bought this because the 1 year sub was up on 2011 and I was able to get 2012 for cheaper than sub for another year for the 2011 version.Install was easy but I don't see much of a difference in what 2012 offers than what 2011 had. There are a few things I don't like about 2012:1. It scans my system a lot slower.2. No option to totally turn off autoupdate like you could in 2011. Can turn off auto but pulse updates turn on then and gets greyed out so there is no way to have them both be off at the same time. I like to update it manually liked I did 2011 but can't now.3. No way to turn off quick scans like you could in 2011.4. Seems to load slower at start up when set to "aggresive" but 2011 started right away.5. When you click on settings or any of the options the software takes longer to respond. At first I didn't think I had clicked right and tried again but it took a few seconds to respond.   Quality Internet Security Suite for 2012

  This version appears to build upon the 2011 version. A simplified user interface masks an upgraded version of the 2011 interface. The user can now select to either have the simpler interface appear when opening up the Norton product, allowing for easy access to launch scans or for checking on/running live updates or otherwise one can set the product to regularly open up to the more advanced interface, displaying a revival of CPU and Norton usage meters, along with a trust level meter displaying the amount of files currently trusted by Norton that are on the computer after a reputation scan has been executed and also in conjunction to what setting one has selected beforehand for computer scanning purposes. The product appears to function well, with no real noticable slowdown in performance from the previous version thus continuing on with Norton's lighter footprint design and improvements which were introduced with the 2009 versions of Nortons.   I can no longer recommend this product (Edit)

  Update: (12/13/09) I have a three install license. When I tried to install a second license on my laptop I received a message informing me I had no installs left. When I clicked on the "help" screen I was sent to a screen which implied I might be a pirate. When I eventually got the customer service screen I found I would have to PAY to have a phone conversation with a real person. UNACCEPTABLE!I had to install a program which opened a dialog box to "on-line chat" with someone in a foreign country. This required me to allow a stranger to take control of my computer (do you really want that?) and prowl around. I had a difficult time communicating the problem. The CS rep kept insisting I had to uninstall my previous install on my desktop, even though I had TWO installs left. When I finally managed to make him understand, he erased all my settings in Internet Explorer.   First

  It is hard to review a product like this unless you have been running it a while. Less than a week ago I received and installed it on my PC. So far it has been a positive experience without any glitches at all. If time goes by and I do experience problems, I will edit my review. The install was easy and fairly quick. McAfee doesn't seem to be the space hog that Norton is, and certainly seems faster. The interface was simple and easy to learn for someone who has never used McAfee before. I ran my scans and set up the parameters of the protection I wanted. My PC was clean so I can't comment on how well it picks up any virus problems.   I am so glad that I got thisI have used Norton for years and it has continued to be a mess It slowed my computer to a grinding haltWith this install I have nothing in conflict with itIt updates itself (Great for me because I forget to update sometimes)It has a nice window that you can navigate quite easilyI didn't have to uninstall it to install the newer system which is fantasticIt also goes on to three computers instead of the usual 2With their updates, they are not about hourly file updates or five minute updates -- at McAfee the updates are instant.Their tools are great!   Decent Security Suite - with a caviat

  I have used Trend Micro's security solutions in the past and there have been both good and bad versions that have hit my desk. I was hopeful that this version would be a big improvement from the last version I tried (the 2010 edition) and while it is there are important considerations that I believe make this package overpriced.I loaded Titanium Internet Security 2012 on a 32-bit Windows XP target, with a 2.8 GHz Pentium 4 with 2 GB RAM. This system cannot be considered cutting edge by most standards anymore but it is sufficient for running this security suite.Although the requirements on the packaging list a number of acceptable browsers for Titanium to work, what it doesn't tell you is that MSIE version 7.0 or better MUST be installed for the package to even load. Keep this in mind, as it is easy to get very frustrated when loading this package on an older target.   SoFar So Good

  I installed this program on an older computer used primarily for surfing and email. Other security suites really slowed this computer down and were not all that effective. I was particuarly attracted by the promise of easy set up and economic use of disk space and memory.The package comes with two cds, one for PCs and one for MAC. Installation is easy. Just pop the CD in and follow the instructions. I did have to update a service pack on the computer before I was able to install the program. I did think the actual installation and activation time was a tad long, about ten minutes not including download of an update to the titanium program. Other than that, the program seems to be working well without interfering with the computer's performance. Notably, this program does not have the constant alerts and notifications youget with other security suites.   Long term TM user disappointed

  Did some evaluative online research which stated Norton, Kaspersky etc overall better than TM which had degraded in malware deterrence effectiveness. Please confirm this yourself and comment as needed. Tried the 2012 TM anyway as we had been using it for years and had been satisfied. BIG PROBLEMS with the installation disc and then with TM's Firewall Booster apparently making Windows firewall permanently inoperable during TM installation. The system event log confirmed TM application errors. TM technical support was brief, unsympathetic and simply gave out Microsoft's technical support 800 number, ie, they said MS firewall not our problem, goodbye.Conclusion, am returning TM 2012 security suite for refund. In this process discovered that Microsoft's free Security Essentials may be a better product, and if need be Kaspersjy 2012 has well reviewed SW firewall.
