Great protection from Kaspersky as usual.

Installation & First Impression:*****************************Installation of KIS 2012 was quite speedy. At the beginning of the installation process the program looked for any conflicting security programs that were already installed and to my surprise, it actually found remnants of Microsoft Security Essentials that I had previously uninstalled. After this was cleared up, it was a simple case of activating the product online and viola!, I was up and running. Albeit needing a definition update.Once KIS was up and running I downloaded the latest update, which took quite a while, and then gave it a quick scan. As this is the first 2012 malware product I've looked at thus far, it is difficult to be objective as to how Kaspersky's latest will compare with others that are released in the latter part of the year, but my initial impression is quite positive. KIS 2012 is jam-packed full of all the features that you would expect to see in such a program and definitely... 5/5 Method2Madness "Alex" (Hampton Roads, VA) - See all my reviews, September 26, 2011

Super slow full scan takes the sparkle off an otherwise great product

I received Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 from the Amazon Vine Reviewer Program. Because I received the 3-license version I installed it on two PC's: desktop running Vista 32-bit and a desktop running Windows 7 64-bit.I had planned on also installing it on an XP desktop as this software gives you one code to license 3 machines for 1 year, however that is being old and fussy upon this writing and may need to die a natural death, thus I may have to install Kaspersky on yet another Win 7 machine instead. I will update this review after the third install.**Note that this software works with 32 and 64-bit Windows OS's Vista, XP and 7, but doesn't support Mac.**The Positives:Installation on both machines was easy, but much quicker on the Windows 7 machine. Probably more about the OS than this software. On both the Vista and Win 7 PC's the system moved quicker than with other antivirus' used before - Trend Micro on one and Kaspersky Pure on the... 3/5 Andrea L. Less cluttered interface and fairly faster than 2011

Norton woke-up in 2009/10 making the interface user-friendly and its signature updates running in the background making the software less resource-hogging. It's continuing the same trend this year (NIS2012) with a little less cluttered interface - meaning most features automated for the novice user, but you have to dig in deep to make advanced changes. It works well with Windows7 as well as Win XP if you care (I don't have Vista - so cannot comment about that).1. Installation: As in the recent versions of NIS, installation was a snap. It took under 2 minutes, but needed a restart. If you have existing license for NIS, download the update from support -> check for new version menu item from within NIS. You can update the license number from the disk later when your license is about to expire. In previous version(s), NIS overwrote existing license period if you upgraded from disk. I havent checked it on this version (I still have about 90 days left, too risky!!)... 5/5 Gene Cloner (St Louis) - See all my reviews This review is from: Norton Internet Security 2012 - 1 User 3PC (Software) Norton woke-up in 2009/10 making the interface user-friendly and its signature updates running in the background making the software less resource-hogging. NIS 2011 Was Better

I bought this because the 1 year sub was up on 2011 and I was able to get 2012 for cheaper than sub for another year for the 2011 version.Install was easy but I don't see much of a difference in what 2012 offers than what 2011 had. There are a few things I don't like about 2012:1. It scans my system a lot slower.2. No option to totally turn off autoupdate like you could in 2011. Can turn off auto but pulse updates turn on then and gets greyed out so there is no way to have them both be off at the same time. I like to update it manually liked I did 2011 but can't now.3. No way to turn off quick scans like you could in 2011.4. Seems to load slower at start up when set to "aggresive" but 2011 started right away.5. This version appears to build upon the 2011 version. A simplified user interface masks an upgraded version of the 2011 interface. The user can now select to either have the simpler interface appear when opening up the Norton product, allowing for easy access to launch scans or for checking on/running live updates or otherwise one can set the product to regularly open up to the more advanced interface, displaying a revival of CPU and Norton usage meters, along with a trust level meter displaying the amount of files currently trusted by Norton that are on the computer after a reputation scan has been executed and also in conjunction to what setting one has selected beforehand for computer scanning purposes. The product appears to function well, with no real noticable slowdown in performance from the previous version thus continuing on with Norton's lighter footprint design and improvements which were introduced with the 2009 versions of Nortons. Excellent program but.....

I have found the newer versions (2011-2012) of Norton Internet Security to be both highly effective at protecting my PC and absent of the cumbersome background programs that effected system performance. I am a fan and will continue to use it. The only change that is bad is that now when you add a new version it does not just add 365 days to whatever days you have remaining on your current protection so you just lose out on those days. That is not the way it has been in the past so wait until your current version is expiring to install the new code and activate it so you don't lose the last 50 days of your current protection like I did. 3/5 R. Much more reasonable through Amazon

I've always trusted and used Norton Internet Security programs on my computers. The last few years I just had Symantic load the new program automatically each year. But, this year when they told me my virus protection would be expiring in 30 days, and then informed me that they just wanted to let me know my credit card would automatically be charged the 59.99 to renew. I thought to myself that was awfully expensive especially being that this year had been hard on my family financially, so I started looking around. Lo and behold I found the same virus protection software through Amazon for less than half the price. Thanks Amazon you've done it again! 5/5 thomas l mcdermott - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Still the best

I have used Norton for years, in its various personas (anti-virus, Internet security, and 360). Generally I buy whatever is available for a good price on Black Friday. This year is was the Internet Security, but only for one computer. So I had to substitute the freebee, McAfee, on my second and third computers. I wish I had not. Should have just paid for the extra support. So for me, at least, Norton has always worked. I have never had a virus get through. The anti spam works, and my computers don't crash. McAfee, on the other hand, has not worked well and will be replaced. I highly recommend any Norton product, keeping in mind that smaller older computers should use the simplest product available (anti-virus), instead of the top product (360), so that the software doesn't make your computer lag much. 5/5 Victoria H. Great Product But Too Many Problems

After using Norton for years and getting totally frustrated with their horrible service and an atrocious product called Norton 360 [early version], I switched to Kaspersky about 3 years ago. That was a smart move because Kaspersky has better customer service and a SUPERIOR product. Let me start by saying Kaspersky is the best consumer product for protection of your computer, however, they have significant problems every time they upgrade to a new version. Even worse, management refuses to communicate with their customers about those problems. One of the pluses of buying this product is the following. If a new version comes out during your one year cycle, you can upgrade to the new product for FREE. The downside, with both the 2010 and 2011 upgrades, many customers [not all] had major problems. With the 2010 upgrade, I was one of many whose system slowed to a crawl for weeks until they finally fixed the problem. Management failed to send out an email advising customers there... 3/5 R. The best security package I have ever used.

Kaspersky replaced McAfee on my computer, low resource utilization and no problems. Easy installation. Not only can I use my computer at any time, I can also print on my wireless connected printer. McAfee decided that since I did not have their product installed on the "computer" on my home network I could not use it. To print I had to disable the firewall. Kaspersky correctly identifies the device as a printer and have no problems using all of the features of my all-in-one.The installation was flawless and fast, even though there was a new version available and the download was large.Full system scan runs very quietly on the background and I don't even notice it is doing anything, I had to open the window to see if it was still doing it or it was completed. It also ran in half the time of what McAfee used to take, and you do notice McAfee when it is running.Another advantage is that it has not used up another license because I am running... 5/5 Gustavo Orellana - See all my reviews, September 20, 2010

Renewal Costs More Than New Software - Otherwise OK

I have been using the Norton security products for many years, and I have been for the most part very satisfied with them. The one gripe I have is that every year when I go to renew my subscription, I find that I can purchase new copies of the software for less than the renewal price. Although it is relatively easy to buy new copies of the software every year and avoid the exorbitant renewal costs, I feel like Symantec is trying to take advantage of me. I think loyal customers should be rewarded with renewal costs that are at or below readily available costs for the new software from reliable sources like Amazon. Instead, Symantec prefers to try to gouge its customers. For this software which is currently selling for $37.99 on Amazon, Symantec charges $59.99 for renewal. Shame on you Symantec! 3/5 Linus Linder - See all my reviews This review is from: Norton Internet Security 2011 - 1 User/3 PC [Old Version] (Software) I have been using the Norton security products for many years, and I have been for the most part very satisfied with them. Instead, Symantec prefers to try to gouge its customers. For this software which is currently selling for $37.99 on Amazon, Symantec charges $59.99 for renewal. Shame on you Symantec! Norton continues its good run.... still some flaws and cosmetic improvements this time

I have been using Norton Antivirus/Internet security for years now (on 3 PCs running XP) and the big turn around for the past few years with 'light' software has been great. Most times, issues have been due to non-removal of other/earlier versions of Norton software.Installation: The recent improvements in installation are continuing to be great. I was able to upgrade from NIS2010 to 2011 in under 2 minutes. If you still have license period left from your previous installation, choose to upgrade using Norton upgrade option (You'll get pop-up notice or check Support - Check new version/product update). If you upgrade using the disc, it will over-write your existing license period (doesn't make sense, but that is the case here). However, after internet upgrade, you can enter the license code from the disc to extend the license for another year (just before your license period expires). During installation, you may notice wireless connection disconnecting a couple of times,... 4/5 Gene Cloner (St Louis) - See all my reviews This review is from: Norton Internet Security 2011 - 1 User/3 PC [Old Version] (Software) I have been using Norton Antivirus/Internet security for years now (on 3 PCs running XP) and the big turn around for the past few years with 'light' software has been great. One of the best if not the best IS software

Well, after a few month of beta testing I guess it's time to give everybody my opinion. Since 2010 Norton became my favorite security suite for my PC, and this one is no exception. I tested it on 3 different PC running XP Pro, Vista H.P.32bit and Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit. Once you get this software it will let you install on 3 different computers. Haven't tested 64bit version, but I'm pretty sure it should work the same. For those who already has a 2010 edition you won't see mush of the changes, it's more like refined version, which is a very good thing. For the interface it keeps the dark theme, with yellow text, but moves the large graphic security status indicator from the main interface window up to the task-bar and system tray icons. The UI is impressively easy to use. It's still very fast light on resources, with an extremely good protection. As for everybody else here's what to expect:Installation: Once you run the installer, the program is ready to operate in about a... 5/5 Vidis "Vidis" (MO USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Norton Internet Security 2011 - 1 User/3 PC [Old Version] (Software) Well, after a few month of beta testing I guess it's time to give everybody my opinion. Confusing to install

I was really excited to find this on Amazon for under $20 because the same product was supposed to be almost $70 to install from the Trend Micro website. I chose to use the download feature from Amazon.com because my old security was set to expire tomorrow. I found it did not install or update instantly; after 1 hour of freaking out and thinking I would still have to purchase the $70 Trend Micro internet security, I played around with my current Trend Micro Security and realized I could delete the old product key and enter the new one in it's place. I guess it wasn't a difficult fix, but I was not prepared to do it and wasn't given instruction that this is what had to be done in order to install the new product. I also don't know how this would work if a person didn't have the old version of Trend Micro--or maybe that was my problem in the first place? I don't really know. But it seems to be working now. 4/5 taertman2516 - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Great!

I also had a little difficulty installing this product. I had to uninstall the previous security program for this one to download. Then I needed to find my product key code. This is found in my amazon account. It is found under "Digital Content," and then "Your Games and Library Content."After doing those things, it was very easy to download.I was glad for the low price on this internet security. It has protected my computer very well for more than a month now. I am very pleased with this product. 5/5 S. Bess (Utah, United States) - See all my reviews, April 19, 2011

Had to contact support within 12 hours of installation...and again after that.

So here's the deal. I've been using computers since the TI-994a (actually had one called a Timex Sinclair before that)and have been "online" since the Prodigy days and 300 baud modems. So I've been around the block when it comes to computers, internet and security software. I know how to install, uninstall and tweak my way through most issues without having to contact support...until this security suite.I was previously using Norton 2011 and when this came up on Vine, I'm always looking to try new security suites. I fully removed Norton and during the BitDefender installation, it confirmed that no other security software is installed that would conflict with it (nice feature).I'm running a Windows 7 64bit Toshiba laptop with 3 GB memory and pentium processor so this shouldn't be a problem I thought. The installation went fine and I did a full system scan (took upwards of 6 hours), the product updated, requested a reboot and I thought we were off... 3/5 D. Great product with plenty of options

Back when I tried my first BitDefender product, the 2009 version of this same package, I was mostly concerned with the scanner not bothering me just for the sake of telling me its working, and that it would use minimal system resources. BitDefender 2009 did the job, and I'm pleased to say that BitDefender 2011 is up to par with it! (The 2010 version I personally didn't like; the interface changed a lot and it complained about things I didn't care about. In 2011, you can tell it what things that you care about...best of both worlds.)As much as I like this product, here are a few negatives:1. Installing the product on machine #1 (you get 3 licenses so you can install this package on up to 3 separate machines)... everything went well, BUT it downloaded something like 60 megs worth of "updates" immediately after installing. Virus pattern definitions generally aren't that large, so I'm not sure what the heck it was downloading. Overall, not a big deal...unless... 1/5 eyecore (PacNW, USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: BitDefender Internet Security 2011 Value Edition - 3 PC/2 year [Old Version] (DVD-ROM) Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?) Overzealous: Bit Defender 2011 found the worms but it also had false positives

Bit-Defender 2011 came in handy since my subscription to Norton 360 3.0 had expired on two of my computers (I have eight at home, five at work). In addition to Bit Defender I currently use the following anti-virus software ESET NOD32 4.0, Trend Micro Internet Security (2010), Trend Micro Plus, Trend Micro Office Scan, and I also have recent experience with McAfee, WebRoot, AVG, and Symantec Norton Anti-Virus. The installation went smoothly. However, they required you to register and activate using the same key and asked you to create an account, which is unusual. The first full scan took a long time and it failed. However, subsequent updates and scans were successful. The user interface is nice looking but a little bit non-traditional and somewhat confusing and so is their web site. However, they offer 24/7 support and an easy way for turning the so called game mode on/off. In game mode Bit Defender will not use as much resources. Overall Bit Defenders seems to be less... 4/5 Thomas Wikman "Texas Swede" (Texas) - See all my reviews, October 6, 2010

Already using 2010 version? Read on...

Last December I installed the 2010 version of this software and have been happy with it for my parents' computer...on their older Windows XP Professional computer, it's been reliable and unobtrusive, and easy to configure.Unobtrusive, that is, until it started reminding them to renew their annual subscription to the software. The problem is that the renewal price is pretty high...higher, in fact, than just buying the 2011 version. So, I figured I would get them the 2011 version and install it over the 2010 version. After all, the 2011 version advertises its new features, including increased speed. So, I sit down with my coffee, ready to start the installation process. A message comes up saying there is no need to install! Just enter the new 2011 license key, and it will extend the 2010 license for another year. In other words, apparently the 2011 version offers nothing new over the 2010 version if you've been keeping the 2010 version up to date. I'm not... 4/5 N. Does a decent job, but is a bit resource heavy

McAfee Internet Security (MIS 2011)I tried (McAfee Internet Security) MIS2011 after a long time (It has been ~6 years since I used MaAfee for virus protection) on my WinXP laptop (5 yrs old). MIS2011 is a comprehensive security suite. Its performance (virus detection and internet security) is comparable to Norton. MIS does have room for improvement in a number of areas (esp. resource usage), but still is a decent piece of software.1. Installation: Installation can be customized from the menu(e.g. deselect spam control, parental control or firewall). Thankfully, installation does not require a restart of your computer, but it does take a while compared to other security software. On my 5yr old laptop, it took ~10 min compared to NIS which took less than 2 min.2. Performance: MIS also has automatic updates, but installation of signature updates consumes resources even when running in the background. Reliable, from a respected company

When I first got into computers I had a Norton security program. I found it difficult to use and limited in preferences. I downloaded a trial of McAfee Virusscan and was happy with it, easy to install and use so I've stuck with McAfee since.Since that time I have upgraded to the Internet Security version. I use it both at work and at home. The cost depends on how many users and computers you want to install it on. There is a fee for additional computers which you can pay for on McAfee's website. Install is easy. If you have some other company's security program installed it is recommend you uninstall it first. If you have a McAfee product installed the new program will uninstall the old one before installing the new one. It includes virusscan, site advisor, parental controls, backup, firewall. You can pick and choose which options you want installed. Once it is installed it will see if an update is available. Setting preferences is very easy.If you choose to have McAfee... 4/5 D. A bit bulky

I am still undecided if this is an improvement over other AVG products. I am unable to see videos in YouTube, because AVG has an accelerator mode that is not compatible with YouTube. Also, I am not sure if my computer is slower now than before. On the plus side, it really seems to block everything that threats my computer. The Interface is still easy and fast to use. The search features are robust.I recommend you play a bit with the free AVG feature found on internet, before buying the whole suit. 4/5 Pablo (Venezuela) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Works Great But!

I've used AVG products for a few years now and recently bought it directly from there site (cheaper here at Amazon) anyway its one of the best anti-virus softwares out there. It has stopped every trojan, virus, keylogger and such that I've come in contact with.Although its a little heavy on system resources I didn't dock it a star for that, I've docked it a star for the new interface. I like the old one much better. Yeah I know it doesn't effect the software anyway if you need a good security system for your computer this would be a good choice for you. Works well with vista, windows 7 32&64 bit operating systems.Would recommend especially over Norton or McAfee. 4/5 Phoenix PC Mods (California) - See all my reviews This review is from: AVG 2012 Internet Security 1 User (DVD-ROM) I've used AVG products for a few years now and recently bought it directly from there site (cheaper here at Amazon) anyway its one of the best anti-virus softwares out there.
